Obekpa refused to play?

Hey each to their own. alumni.
But I`m think Obekpa said: "screw it, if Lavin is going to put me in, then I`ll just foul out quick."
Anyone really think if CO played his game that they`d would be coming in all game on us? I highly doubt it, or he might have gotten 6 or 7 blocks. Aren`t we at our best, when we get fastbreaks off of turnovers?
If that`s the case the we sorely missed him.

We been talking about this since Thursday, time to move on.
If CO plays then all is forgotten, I mean he wouldn`t be still here if he quit right? I`d hope not.
I`m done with this topic.

Has anyone thought Obekpa was fighting the staff to get back in? It could go either way. I agree with SJUISBACK if he plays tomorrow all is forgotten

This topic is a bunch of BS! In the Friar game Chris collected two fouls in under 2 minutes. He started the second half and collected his 3rd in less than a minute. Lavin had to choice but to sit him. He made himself expendable in under 2 minutes of play. Sanchez picked up his minutes and rebounds just fine. Two non-contributors, Green and Pointer, were bigger factors in not providing points when needed. It turned out to be a close game against a very good team.

CO definitely refused to play tonight. I would be surprised if he is make next year - the whole team didn't show up but I thought Obekpa was making a point not to play.
Lavin should of sent him to locker room. And yes, I'm serious about that.

I was at the game and looked for any signs of something wrong. I saw CO acting very casual with Lavin before the game, looked liked nothing was wrong. However, the fact he got very limited minutes in the game is a little troubling. I could see him not returning.

Harrison and Greene shooting I think 3 for 24 is terrible You can not have players with such inconsistency That is were we lost the game .Need better from starters I will not even mention foul shooting What good is having a guy block shots that can not be in the game with 3 mins to play because if it is close and he gets fouled we lose a possession and get no pts

the whole team should transfer. im done with these guys. id rather have mediocre talent and guys play hard for 40 minutes. Play as a team, and actually play smart. Ive been very positive about this team from the get go. Ive actually been on Lavs side too. His coaching job was atrocious last night. Possibly one on the worst jobs ever. Why? Fist off they had eight guys, Eight guys with a smaller line up. Than, a player gets hurt, and down to SEVEN. Humm...coaching 101, bang it inside, get them in foul trouble. Thats the first thing. Secondly, they were killing the 3, how about extending the defense and not allowing the shot? but than again they went inside with our "Nation leading shot blocking team" that is so soft underneath. Greene and Harrison player aweful. If you cant score, at least play good defense. Sampson, out of control...another guy who should of lived under the net, settles for a jumper???? Sanchez, he frustrates me as much as Kyle Cuffe did. He thinks he is a 6-3 guard. Soft on defense, soft inside, and horrible quick fouls all year. See ya!!! Sir Dom, where did you go ? Branch, played ok, needs to drive more. Obekpa, one word to describe his game next year...GONE!, he will transfer. This team accomplished nothing this year. They beat one good ranked team during one hot streak. Whoopie! Sorry fellas, ive been positive, but im venting not. I dont want to hear another person talk about the johnnies talent...Give me Phil Misseri and Marcus Hatten back, id rather watch two guys give their blood and lose than these cupcakes who think pure athleticism and "Talent" win games. IM DONE !!!!!! and for the record, im rooting hard for Nova nd Creighton. Two good claay programs.

We had no inside game yesterday. We were much bigger than them why not put CO and Sanchez in and try to take it to the inside and see what happened. Why play into their hands w a smaller lineup. That said, Max was the only positive from yesterday.

We had ALL WEEK to prepare for their zone defense and did not even attack it in the first half........BASIC concepts to break a zone defense is to have someone standing on the foul line...............but nooooooooooo, they just passed the ball around the top of the zone, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth........It was a TOTAL lack of preperation and adjustment by our coaching staff. Going 1 for 14 on two point shots is unforgivable.

That's right all was forgotten, except it's obvious Lavin punished him by making him get that haircut.

Exactly!!!! This is maddening. They always look totally unprepared and shell shocked against the zone. How is that acceptable?

All night Welsh was advocating to get the ball in low. Did Lavin ever think it might be smart to try to put this 8 man team in foul trouble. Well here's some news for a terrible coach, shooting 3's doesn't do it.

How about Kennedy and Paris - pure hustle.

Look I have no idea whether CO refused to go back in or not, but assuming that he did, is throwing him off the team really the only option? Does he not deserve a 2nd chance-assuming he is truly sorry and apologizes-if the staff and his teammates are willing to take him back? Not saying he shouldn't receive some serious punishment(suspension a number of games) for a very serious offense, but is it a capital offense? Being the parent of 2 teenagers has definitely changed my perspective on acts of rebelliousness.

I know I said I won`t post until Tuesday night, but some posts I just gotta reply to. Maybe I should stop saying I won`t post until a certain time.
Now to Monte`s point. To me if he refused to go in against PC, then possibly just possibly he cost us a chance to get to the NCAA. To me that`s unforgivable. Why give him a 2nd chance? If he quit on the team once, what makes you think he wouldn`t again?

Yeah most things people deserve a second chance, costing us a ncaa tournament appearance isn`t one of them. If he quit and Lavin is letting him play Tuesday then the team will see they could do what they want, then act like their sorry and Lavin will let the m play again as well.
If he plays, as i said in previous post. Then maybe he didn`t quit, may it was another issue.

There is no guarantee he won't do it again. Was there a guarantee that D'Lo would tow the line this year? he has. There's always a risk when you give a kid another chance. But I leave that to Lavin to decide. Glad I could draw you out of your temporary self-imposed exile :)

I think Dlo gave SJU another chance. Not the other way around. No way we win 20 without him. Lavin put the team's future on the line suspending his top scorer. I believe that was an avoidable unjustified action and Lavin was damn lucky the kid returned. Dlo should bolt now and have a year of peace with a solid program that's not out to spoil their player's reputations.

I've never seen one team have a bigger advantage inside. It was like they were playing a high school team. The physical advantage across the board was huge. Credit to Coach Toole and RMU...wow. We'd have 15 or less wins if every team zoned us. Sobering game.

If the whole team didn't show up maybe Lavin should have stayed in the locker room as well. Worst game I've ever seen and there have been many to choose from under Lavin.

Don't need a whole week to break a 2-3 zone. Just need a 1-3-1 offensive set.

Are you joking? After his antics, other programs weren't exactly lining up for him. His grandmother pleaded with Lavin to let him stay. I think he would be only slightly more welcomed than you would be on another team's website.

i see a mass exodus coming. Than the story will be, "we are young, we are waiting for this new nucleus to evolve"...i think Sampson, Greene, Branch, and Jones staying. Other than that, i wouldnt be surprised if the others bolt. And, I wouldnt say id blame them except for the fact that they were partially the CAUSE of a under achieving team.

He was close to going to Oklahoma State last year, that's pretty out in the open. Coach re-recruited him, not the other way around.
