Obekpa refused to play?

the whole team should transfer. im done with these guys. id rather have mediocre talent and guys play hard for 40 minutes. Play as a team, and actually play smart. Ive been very positive about this team from the get go. Ive actually been on Lavs side too. His coaching job was atrocious last night. Possibly one on the worst jobs ever. Why? Fist off they had eight guys, Eight guys with a smaller line up. Than, a player gets hurt, and down to SEVEN. Humm...coaching 101, bang it inside, get them in foul trouble. Thats the first thing. Secondly, they were killing the 3, how about extending the defense and not allowing the shot? but than again they went inside with our "Nation leading shot blocking team" that is so soft underneath. Greene and Harrison player aweful. If you cant score, at least play good defense. Sampson, out of control...another guy who should of lived under the net, settles for a jumper???? Sanchez, he frustrates me as much as Kyle Cuffe did. He thinks he is a 6-3 guard. Soft on defense, soft inside, and horrible quick fouls all year. See ya!!! Sir Dom, where did you go ? Branch, played ok, needs to drive more. Obekpa, one word to describe his game next year...GONE!, he will transfer. This team accomplished nothing this year. They beat one good ranked team during one hot streak. Whoopie! Sorry fellas, ive been positive, but im venting not. I dont want to hear another person talk about the johnnies talent...Give me Phil Misseri and Marcus Hatten back, id rather watch two guys give their blood and lose than these cupcakes who think pure athleticism and "Talent" win games. IM DONE !!!!!! and for the record, im rooting hard for Nova nd Creighton. Two good claay programs.

How about Kennedy and Paris - pure hustle.

Just think about this - if Lavin coached the 2009-2010 team to a 17 win season and one game exit from the NIT for THOSE juniors, then we would be torching Lavin AND Kennedy and Horne, instead of Lavin and everyone else who dribbles a basketball on this year's squad, which doesn't have a single 4 year senior)

You don't just put in an offensive set and hope they can run it. A week is sufficient time to learn it and be efficient enough to break it.

Would love to resurrect all the threads bashing Paris, DJ and that class (especially following the Fordham game) but I'm a lazy son.

Now they're folk heroes.

Very low bar we have here.

If you think about it, that 2010-2011 team had a nearly identical run through the Big East, just before the close of conference play AND also stumbled home playing poorly the last few conf games IMO. we went 10-8. Their 12-6 was two games better, but for all intents and purposes, they were finished even before Kennedy went down in the BET opening game against Syracuse. That team's run was about the same, but they didn't get off to the 0-5 start this team did. 12-6 would have made us a tournament team, and likely a first round exit also.

No no no. The 2010 team beat the # 3, #4, #10, and #15 teams during that stretch. And earlier in the season they had beaten the #9 and #13 teams. I understand what you are trying to stay. But It's really not comparable Beast. That team won more of the big games than they lost. 6-5 v top 25, this team was 1-5 v top 25.

Similar to the extent that they went on runs, but the 2010 teams run was far more impressive than the two extra wins suggest. They literally proved they could beat anyone in the country. That was just a phrase we generously gave to this year';s team.

Look I have no idea whether CO refused to go back in or not, but assuming that he did, is throwing him off the team really the only option? Does he not deserve a 2nd chance-assuming he is truly sorry and apologizes-if the staff and his teammates are willing to take him back? Not saying he shouldn't receive some serious punishment(suspension a number of games) for a very serious offense, but is it a capital offense? Being the parent of 2 teenagers has definitely changed my perspective on acts of rebelliousness.

I know I said I won`t post until Tuesday night, but some posts I just gotta reply to. Maybe I should stop saying I won`t post until a certain time.
Now to Monte`s point. To me if he refused to go in against PC, then possibly just possibly he cost us a chance to get to the NCAA. To me that`s unforgivable. Why give him a 2nd chance? If he quit on the team once, what makes you think he wouldn`t again?

Yeah most things people deserve a second chance, costing us a ncaa tournament appearance isn`t one of them. If he quit and Lavin is letting him play Tuesday then the team will see they could do what they want, then act like their sorry and Lavin will let the m play again as well.
If he plays, as i said in previous post. Then maybe he didn`t quit, may it was another issue.

There is no guarantee he won't do it again. Was there a guarantee that D'Lo would tow the line this year? he has. There's always a risk when you give a kid another chance. But I leave that to Lavin to decide. Glad I could draw you out of your temporary self-imposed exile :)

I think Dlo gave SJU another chance. Not the other way around. No way we win 20 without him. Lavin put the team's future on the line suspending his top scorer. I believe that was an avoidable unjustified action and Lavin was damn lucky the kid returned. Dlo should bolt now and have a year of peace with a solid program that's not out to spoil their player's reputations.

Are you joking? After his antics, other programs weren't exactly lining up for him. His grandmother pleaded with Lavin to let him stay. I think he would be only slightly more welcomed than you would be on another team's website.

An esteemed program in GTown picked up Josh Smith. Oregon must have known about Austin's transgressions. List goes on and on. Good players with issues get picked up all the time. Frequently they are still problem players in which case they just get dropped again, but sometimes it pays off. Great way to use the 13th ship which is usually wasted on a spectator. Dlo would have landed softly. Only question was if he was willing to sit a year.

A reflection of the strength of they conference they were in but absolutely spot on.

This thread has me bracing for a very long and unhappy summer on this site...

You're right - no doubt about that. They had quality wins in their run. We ran through a diminished Big East.

He was close to going to Oklahoma State last year, that's pretty out in the open. Coach re-recruited him, not the other way around.

I don't recall ever reading that on either site.

It was conveniently mentioned yesterday, if I'm not mistaken. Take it with a grain of salt.

@obekpa12: Happy and grateful one of my dreams came true. Check out my foundationhttp://t.co/jjXY30nmOv #healtheworld #savethekids #tomorrowsleaders

Is this really HIS foundation? If so, and even if he is just involved, even if he just supports this, is super impressive. The website has spelling errors, but whoever is behind this has a big heart.

Maybe I'll pledge $500 for every rebound that Obekpa averages over 7 next season. Seriously.

Stop this. You're disrupting the narrative of CO as the Green-Eared Spaghetti Monster.

People said it at the time - which granted was rumor/speculation, but Dave has confirmed it a few times this season.

Rumors become gospel on our sites b/c of a few pms and it gettin repeated enough. Harrison wasn't going anywhere.
