NYC kids dont go to St. John's -DN

Avalon and Stone Harbor (barrier Island beaches about 10 miles up from the Cape May tip) are better than any beach in NY, hands down. Plenty wide, without being too wide, the sand is much finer and softer, the water entrance smoother, the low lying dunes prettier, NO CONTEST. Been to Bermuda (close second), been to the Caribbean, been to Greece and Italy, been to California, honestly none of them compare.

Sinatra, Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Amos Alonso Stagg, Abbott & Costello, Buzz Aldrin, count Basie,Rick Barry, William Brennan, James Gandolfini.

Giants and Jets, Liberty Science Center, Cape May and the best beaches anywhere, Stone Pony, Pine Valley, Spring Lake, Sea Girt, Avalon, Stone harbor, Hoboken and Princeton.

Just saying.

All in good fun... Jersey is a great state, even if it seems most residents came from the Bronx.

And even if the Giants and Jets insist on having "New York" in front of their names.

Well, we are all entitled to our opinions...but I have to disagree with you here. NJ beaches can be argued to be the finest in the northeast, but they can't touch the Gulf Coast beaches in Florida. Or the beaches through some of the Carribean. (Anguilla comes to mind). Oe the beaches of Hawaii, especially Maui.
Again, not knocking NJ...the beaches are nice. However based upon my travels....they don't compare with the places listed.

Just talking America and especially the North East. Guess you have never been to the Hamptons. The beaches in East Hampton beat them all and I have been to the Jersey beaches. But with most Hampton beaches, you need permits to even go on the beaches.

Im from NJ. The southern beaches are far better than the northern beaches. I love Cape May. I now, live in Boca Raton FL. The beach by my house is pretty nice. The water is always clean and you can go to the beach all year round.

They seem to be skipping that SI part these days. All Russian.

Gotta luv it when a good thread goes off topic..... "now on the Syracuse Fans Very Upset With St. John's thread...ways to make the perfect grilled cheese are being discussed"

Brooklynites just followed the stench of garbage - Starrett City, Staten Island, NJ

Cooper's Beach in East Hampton is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 beaches in the US. Caladesi Island near Fort Myers is a pretty nice beach. Been to Hawaii, but will take some of the Caribbean beaches with warmer water and sugary sand any day. The water is too cold in California. Sanibel and Captiva also have nice beaches.

California beaches are cold but they have great scenery.

I guess this answers the question of why two NYC kids -- Whitehead and Carrington -- opted for Seton Hall over St. John's: It's the beaches near Cape May.

I think Whitehead just got confused at the last minute when he met Seton Hall Associate AD Jimmy O'Donnell, a St. John's grad who started his career in the athletic office at SJU:

Jimmy is an all-time good guy and a big time SJU fan, eclipsed only by his brother Dennis, who is the long time head basketball coach of St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill. Dennis was an SJU cheerleader as a student at SJU.

WAit a second they didn't join the Coast Guard did they?

Just throwing this out there, does anyone feel like the staff could have done a better job with Whitehead and Carrington?
Getting so close and losing both Do not take this as a negative just curious.

I disagree with this.

First off, they did not want to give Tiny Morton a job, nor should they do, that took us out of the running for him.
Secondly, we did not have interest in Carrington, the interest waned after initial interest.

He's had those questions answered a thousand times, Buck.

Not to mention, Whitehead's scenario has been regurgitated (on this board) a ton of times.

Why does he continue to bring up this stuff is beyond me.... IMO, he's being a douche or too stupid to know that he's being one.
