NYC kids dont go to St. John's -DN

Fun times in South Orange, NJ:

@BrendanPrunty: Seton Hall announces its Midnight Madness on Friday. Kevin Willard will take on Kobayashi in a hot dog eating contest. Not a misprint.

Hopefully doesn't wash them down with a ton of beer and then go for a drive.

Coach Steve and staff gonna put up the wins, and get kids into the NBA. After that, what else matters outside of hoping the rest of the league be good?

First Willard steals Lavin's lunch money by landing Whitehead with his no nonsense and uncompromising recruiting style. Now he uses his Coney Island connections to get a hot dog eating champion. What I want to know how does Lavin, or any coach for that matter, cool down the hottest school in the basketball universe down? They are a force.

I hate to agree but it seemed like the author of the article used the word DISS and seemed to construct the story around that.

Kobayashi does EVERYTHING under contract. Any time he appears, he gets paid. It's why he couldn't do Coney Island any more - his contract prohibited it, I believe. Well, that and the fact the Joey Chestnuts was kicking his ass every year.

I hope Willard knows that a champion hot dog eater takes a laxative before and wears a diaper during the event. :woohoo:

Tiny Morton is actually subbing for Willard.

See your point Moose and agree that the author went headline hunting...But, unless he was misquoted, he did make some statements that were somewhat flammable

A bunch of good NJ high school BB players have come to SJU over the years, so what Isaiah.

I agree with the comment that this whole thing is much to do about nothing.

I think the DN was running out of things to put into their lousy newspaper! The NYTimes it is not.

B.T.W. for what is worth I have an equation:

New Jersey = New York

That's been Seton Hall's pre-game policy since Willard took over. (Wonder if they told Whitehead about that.)

New Jersey minus 2 million tons of toxic waste = New York minus Broadway, minus Battery Park to Riverdale, minus all the museums, minus MSG, minus great restaurants, etc, etc, etc

True, but on the plus side they are closer to the port of Elizabeth.

Sinatra, Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Amos Alonso Stagg, Abbott & Costello, Buzz Aldrin, count Basie,Rick Barry, William Brennan, James Gandolfini.

Giants and Jets, Liberty Science Center, Cape May and the best beaches anywhere, Stone Pony, Pine Valley, Spring Lake, Sea Girt, Avalon, Stone harbor, Hoboken and Princeton.

Just saying.

I can't believe the amount of comments on this thread. What Isaiah Whitehead said is total BS. If you followed his recruitment, the only reason he is at Seton Hall and not St. Johns is that his high school coach was able to hold Kevin Willard hostage for an Assistant coaching position. If Lavin had caved in to this blackmail, IW would have committed to St. Johns. Tiny Morton stated that he asked Lavin for a job and was turned down. This makes the DN article and all comments regarding it irrelevant.

All in good fun... Jersey is a great state, even if it seems most residents came from the Bronx.

You need to travel more if you think Jersey has the best beaches anywhere.

Sorry, Long Island has the best beaches in the World, much of them public.. New Jersey Beaches are somewhat more restrictive unless you own the property or live in the local community..They are very good just not LI.

Say what you want but, there is not a better public beach anywhere that can compare with Jones Beach and its' almost 1/4 mile of sand up to the Ocean.. Jersey has nothing to compare to the Hamptons or Montauk.. And, I've lived in NJ FOR MANY YEARS.

This is not to dis NJ and its Shore but, it's a tad below LI . The waves on LI are superior always.
