NY YANKEES - 2021

Moose, I forgot about the Marlins paying those last years. Totally forgot. That's true?  That makes a big difference. Then I take back a lot of what I said about the opportunity cost.

And of course he hits two HRs tonight.
Back to a 140+ OPS!

Boy I could only imagine what this thread would be like if you were Pirates fans :)

It'd be fine.  We're St. John's fans.. we've had our hearts broken a lot... and good portion of the posters here are Jets fans.
:)

Stanton could have opted out after last year and become FA. Once he didn't the Marlins were on the hook for that $30M. Definitely changes the back end considerably.

Plan for realignment:

Tampa Bay moves to the AL Central, while Minnesota takes their place in the AL East.

game 62.
the bronx bombers be back.
gettys for stanton, stanton (half yank/half marlin), #99, andujar.
half gettys for gardy, gardner. stanton (half jeter), odor eater, #99
another fine start for sp2.
a rare base running blunder by gardy.
when many-peoples-answer gittens made out in the 8th, i went to sleep, missing the kriske mishap.
importantly, both boston and the rays lost. i know its too early for scoreboard watching.
when i logged on this morning there was 15 new yankee posts.
i thought either one of the following happened - cashman fired, boone fired, stanton's contract extended.

BEFORE last nights game.  Some fodder for my pinstriped friends

Fun with arbitrary endpoints
Higgy since May 12: .129/.206/.161
Gary since May 13: .257/.333/.457

Stanton OPS+ back up to 131 with the two HRs yesterday.  :)

Moose, I’ve been a Yankee fan my whole life.
The object is not to win the most regular season games, it’s to win the World Series.  ‘Nuff said.

So am I, Knight.  I'm younger than some here, so my fandom really starts in the early/mid-80s following my childhood idol (Donnie Baseball) and some offensively talented, but flawed teams and an organization that gutted its thriving farm system with inexplicable trades.

I've enjoyed not having a losing season since 1992.  I've enjoyed being in the playoff race every year, minimum, and usually with the playoffs being a given and a deep run/title possible.  That's much better than any other alternative.  Yes, we want titles, because we are the Yankees.  I would hope for more than 1 in 10 years, or 2 in 20, which is where we are at.  I also know 4 out of 6 in a short period of time is pretty unprecedented in this era of baseball, and we were two Rivera blown saves away from 5 or even 6 out of 6.

This year hasn't been great or gone as expected.  Let's see how it plays out.  But I constantly remind myself of how lucky I am to root for this franchise, because my other teams (Knicks, St John's and the Giants) are a constant reminder.  And even there most NFL fans, including my Jets buddies, would argue that I'm pretty spoiled at my age to have experienced what the Gmen have brought to my fandom.

And how many World Series have you seen in your lifetime?  I bet a helluva lot more than your family and friends who root for other MLB teams.  You want to root for the Marlins win a WS then tear the team down and suck for a decade until you win again?

I've seen 5 in my lifetime.  A friend my age who roots for the other side of town has seen 0.

So you're saying that what they do in the regular season is irrelevant?   That it only matters if they are, or are not the last team standing in the postseason?

The last word.

I didn't even have time to get nervous, it happened so fast.

Chapman tends to struggle when he isn't used often, and because of the teams struggles, this was only something like his 5th appearance in close to three weeks.

Not worried about him yet.

2 for 9 with RISP.  They had a ton of chances. Another brutal loss in a brutal season. You can't lose a game to a team like the Twins. having led 4-1 and 5-2.

2-for-9 was better then Minnesota's total, which was 2-for-10.  In fact, all three games of this series, the team that hit better with RISP lost the game.

I really can't fault anything.  We had it where we wanted it in the ninth, Chapman just didn't have it.
