who wants to guess when SJU will stop allowing fans at games?

NYU, Princeton, Cornell, have shut down all non-essential gatherings and are sending students home early.

I am not sure how this is going to shake out, but no doubt we're facing a significant wave of infection.  First, I would imagine the definition of "fully vaccinated" will soon mean you have had the booster shot.   Perhaps that will become the standard for entering the arenas.

In the end, disallowing large spectator gatherings will likely depend on how strained the hospitals are.

Seeing the numbers today in Suffolk count we hit 9% infection rate while nyc is lower nmwho knows what’s going to happen by January but it’s definitely very concerning . I know a bunch of people who have recently gotten Covid

Rumors about the the NBA may be taking a hiatus.  NYS may require fans fully vaxed and boosted w/ masks to enter an indoor event.  If going to MSG this w/e better bring a mask.  We've been wearing them at CA for games.

Me too. I literally still won't even go to the grocery store without a mask. Working remotely starting friday just so I dont have to worry about xmas with my family. Glad I got the booster shot but still definitely a little hesitant

Things in the U.K. are out of control at the moment. I would guess 1/3rd of our friends are dealing with a positive test in the last 2 weeks.

Our nanny had her boyfriend, mom, dad, brother’s girlfriend and 3 friends test positive in the last week all of which were double jabbed.

The good news is I ha e yet to hear of any really case so far. More people are getting symptoms this time around. The U.K. is just waiting for more data on hospitalizations which is what matters here given the government health system.

You forgot to add that EPL is in serious discussions on shutting down through until January.  No boxing day matches?

No Boxing Day matches, wow!

A friend whose wife is from England, were hoping to get there over the Holidays but have re-thought their plans.  The haven't been back there to see her side of the family since December 2018.  Her parents have not yet met grandchild number three who was born in May 2020.

This sounds like the perfect virus, at least from it's own perspective. No matter what science and medicine come up with to combat it, it mutates into a form that is resistant to vaccines and becomes even more deadly. This sounds like right out of a Dan Brown thriller. I pray that we all get through this next wave safe and sound. Be safe fellow redmen.comers!

Talk about unsubstantiated and unscientific fear mongering!!!
1918 Flu pandemic - 50 million deaths, 675K in US.   We are past that in US alone already with this virus. 800K and growing.

That's with a vaccine.  In 1918 there were no antiviral drugs to treat the Spanish Flu, as it was called.

Let's not turn this into a discussion about Fox "News" again...

Step away from the ledge. Put the TV remote down, and turn it off.

Viruses naturally mutate, but become less lethal with each mutation. Medicine has caught up with how to treat it. For the compromised and high risk, be cautious and stay well. For the rest of us, it's a bad cold.

I was going to say it's become more contagious, not more deadly.  And it will continue to do so.  Of course if it became 4 x's more contagious while only 67% less lethal does that make it more deadly or not?  Asking for a friend who's not great at math.

In lieu of 90+% global vaccination rates we need those antivirals developed, and mass produced economically.

The problem with producing drugs economically is not the cost to manufacture per se, but recouping r&d costs built into product pricing.

Do any redmen.com flat earthers want to reveal themselves while we're at it?
