They have to win their tournament to dance. Cluess' teams danced 8 out of 10 seasons. the only two times he didn't make the tourney, his teams finished first but lost their tournament.otis post=460121 said:—-BOB BARKER post=460068 said:OUR FIRST OPPONENT WILL BE AT IONA OR SYRACUSE,OR RUTGERS..OR WAGNER
St. John’s won’t play Iona in the NIT Tournament because Iona will be dancing in the NCAA Tournament.

It’s possible that with Covid being a concern last year , that was enough of a reason to Decline a NiT Bid . Plus , there was the rumor that many of the Players were negative on playing added games .

But you don't get in if you are in the category of the Biggest Losers.dad742 post=460518 said:If the NIT is a losers tournament, St. John's fits right in.
Let me confirm to you that we are not in the NIT. We will enter March with 2 wins against the Top 100. We will likely end the season with 1 win in conference against a team .500 or better. We have absolutely no OOC wins of significance. That is not a resume that even gets you on the NIT bubble.Adam post=460559 said:I'm not even sure St. John's would be in the NIT anymore as of tonight.
Pretty crazy that the team simply needed to win 2 consecutive games they were FAVORED in to get near/on the bubble. Instead they lost both and are now on the NIT bubble.
No matter how much I try lowering my expectations this team manages to drag them even lower.

If invited then the school absolutely needs to accept. 100%.
