NFL Season

I am fallling victim to Julio Jones in both my leagues. Oh well. Puts me in good waiver position the first week.

That's Gman's strategy every year :)

Hold the presses, a big quarter for Demarco Murray while I was driving home. Probably gonna beat Ed in the RM.com league, not enough Demarco in the other one.

really ? I flipped back to the met game once Julio Jones did me in

Feeling pretty good about my prospects this season after outscoring my opponent 90-8 in the Giants game and tonight's SF game. B)

I might have missed seeing the story in this thread, but linked article assigns blame.

well if the giants miss the playoffs by a game I hope Eli sends Coughlin some money for getting him fired

Eli has already helped set Coughlin up well upon retirement , regardless of this season's outcome. Considering Eli had the two of the most clutch performances in Superbowl history , he probably saved Coughlin's job twice (definitely once).

An absolutely enormous clusterfluck Sunday night. It sucks more because they were supposed to get blown out, but the Cowboys (who are overrated) tried giving the game away, and the Giants just wouldn't take it.

We will see what the team is made of Sunday. A bounce back win will do wonders. Thankfully the Mets have kept my inner sports fan happy (yes them, it has been nearly a decade since I can say that).

I am a big Giants fan and I can say with pretty good confidence that they are going nowhere this year. Some of these guys on defense are a joke I think Jerry Reese picks them up on the way to the produce section of his Stop N Shop. Not even going to get into the end of that game, possibly the dumbest clock management I've ever seen.

I think the Jets have a nice defense but have little chance of doing anything significant. This is a league driven by qbs. Their ceiling is 10 wins without a legit QB. I waited for the Colts' to lose on Sunday so their odds dropped and took them to go all the way. It's a worthwhile future investment. Division is crap so they have a foot in the door already in terms of playoffs.

I am Giants fan as well. I agree, this is a big rebuilding year, and the JPP disaster only made it worse. But the last two drafts have actually been good. If Reese nails this next draft, they will be in the division title mix next year (partly due to no dominant NFC East team).

Also, of note, it is not a coincidence that since Marc Ross is no longer the director of college scouting, the last two drafts have been very good.

Glad the Eagles lost. Locally, everybody is huge on the Eagles and everyone is sure they are super bowl bound, last night took them down a notch.

As for the jets, yes a good quarterback is great to have but growing up I watched the jets come close to the super bowl twice with Mark Sanchez as their qb. I am a firm believer with this defense and Chris ivory looking good, they can go far. Also, the jets have the weapons at wide receiver now that even a mediocre QB can look good with. Decker, Marshall, Kerley, Smith coming off of injury soon. I don't know whether this is a playoff team or not, but I'm not gonna say after one game they can't have a great year. Bottom line is outside of the Patriots the AFC has no teams that scare me.

For Eli to tell Jennings not to score on the first 2 downs, which would have made it a 2 posession game is just unbelievable. Talk about giving a game away.

The same as I'm not gonna say after one game they can have a great season. See how that works?

If you seriously believe that no other team in the AFC "scares you" other than the Patriots then go right ahead. It's your prerogative. Allow it to play out for the next few weeks is the wise thing to do, IMO.

He had to have had a huge brain fart and thought they were up only one. That really is the only excuse for such a colossal mistake. Jennings also should have used his brain a bit there and demonstrated some 1st grade math for Eli.

Believe I heard that now Eli is saying he told Jennings that IF the Cowboys were going to LET HIM score than he shouldn't which changes things a little bit cause I guess if you run a couple more plays and they are going to let you score anyway you can use up more clock. If you look at the 2 running plays the cowboys really stuffed both runs and Jennings wasn't going to be able to score anyway.

Why would the Cowboys let him score, making it a 2 possession game, they are not as stupid as the Giants.

Wow. I'm a big jets fan, but my dads huge on the Giants, and last night was absolutely brutal. Way to give away a game that was given to you. The Cowboys handed the Giants the game and the Giants kindly declined and gave it back. Awful.

Jets looked good minus the scary injuries though so I'm excited about that.

Horrible clock management by the Giants last night. Dallas also took advantage of some funky, NFL rules, per committing penalties, and having the clock stopped. The Giants declined the penalties, so the clock should once the ball is spotted.

Nevertheless, back to the poor clock management by the G-men. I would've never thrown the ball there on the 3rd and goal. It would've been another run play. Whether, it was up the gut or on the edges.... It would've been a running play. Dallas would've gotten the ball back with about 45-50 seconds remaining, instead of 1:30 or so.

My son is a Jets fan, so I'm happy for him. But, I don't believe the Jets will sustain what they did yesterday. Cleveland is well.... Cleveland. Fitzpatrick can't be trusted for the long haul, and he's eventually gonna disappoint you.

I'm a die hard Giants fan. Please tell me if anyone can, WTF was the pass interference on Cromartie? All he did was leap for the ball and deflected it., and that was 3rd down so they would have punted it.
On that 3rd down pass play, I have no problem passing the ball, but if no one is open why throw it out of the end-zone? Eli should have tooken a F'ing knee and another 40 second runs off the clock. After the FG there was still 1:13.
But wtf was the def on the last 2 serious? Romo completed everything and made it look so damn easy.
Oh well, they better win vs. Atlanta.

I always liked the Jets (only sport that I like 2 teams.) They looked good on Sunday.
Monday night will be a challenge, @ Indy, especially with them at 0-1.

Now I read that Eli told Jennins to fall because he thought Dallas had only 1 timeout, and they could have killed the clock. The thing is Dallas still had 2.
Why play around with that when if you get the TD you are up 10 which is a 2 possession lead? Eli is over thinking, just take the freaking 6pnts.

This is the idiot getting a 4 year extension worth 82million???
un- freaking-real

And don't tell me about his 2 rings, if no playoffs this year then that's 4 straight years. We need the next 2 vs. Atl and Wash both at home

Jennings said that he was gonna tell Eli: "Forget it, I'm going in, but I didn't want to be that guy."
I wish Jennings had the balls to tell Eli that, Giants would be 1-0 instead of 0-1.
I wish our Thursday night game was tonight instead of next Thursday, I still can't get it out of my mind, especially it happening against Dallas.
