Next season

It has been a good week for our team and perhaps this season has taken a turn for the better. Hopefully our group will stay the course and finish strong. Of course there are so many different ways that it could play out still, but my hope is that our group of seniors go out with a great end to their careers. It seems like if their is some karmic justice in the universe this will happen for them.

That being said if we project a good end to this season, then what kind of shape are we in for next year? Initially it seemed like it could be a bleak outlook but it is starting to look a bit better.

There are three groups of players out there for us:
1) Current recruits
2) Current commits
3) Potential returning players.

From these three groups I count about fifteen names that might be on next year's roster. With some of our potential returning players not coming back and some of our current possible recruits not coming here we still should have a roster of about nine to ten D1 players.

Currently Recruiting
Thomas Akyazili PG
Cheick Diallo PF
Marcus LoVett PG
Georgios Papagiannis C
Federico Mussini PG

Current Commits
Samir Doughty SG
Brandon Sampson SG

Potential returning players
Myles Stewart SG Sophomore
Christian Jones PF Junior
Felix Balamou SF Senior
Chris Obekpa C Senior
Amar Alibegovic PF Sophomore
Jay Henderson SF Sophomore
Rysheed Jordan PG Junior
Adonis De La Rosa C Sophomore

Given all of this, as of today do you count yourself as:

A) Optimistic about our future
B Pessimistic about our future
C) Hopeful, but neither optimistic or pessimistic about our future
D) Neutral and will take a wait and see approach about our future

Anyone know what ADR's weight is now?

Adonis needs to be divided into body parts for accurate weight calculation.
Head: 25 lbs; arms:20 lbs; legs: 60 lbs; upper torso 120 lbs; ass: 160 lbs.
Total: 385 pounds.

There is no doubt that we will assemble a roster of Div I players. However, I think we should look at how many Big East impact players we could possibly have. We are now seeing how difficult it is (even for an experienced group) to win conference games. In order to have a decent season next year, we will need a collection "BE Impact players".

In my opinion, here's what I think we have. Keep in mind, this is for next year. For example, Doughty, who I consider to be a BE level talent, may become an "impact player" in later years.

Possible Returning BE Impact Players
R. Jordan
C. Obekpa

BE Impact Commits
B. Sampson

BE Impact Recruits
Diallo
Pappagiannis
M. Lovett (eligibility?)

Too Hard to Assess
F. Mussini (skilled, but needs the wieght room)
T. Akyazili

The rest of our guys, for next year, are role players in the Big East conference.

.....just my opinion.

I would add Amar to the list of BE caliber players. He has made good strides this year and will be an even larger asset next year

If Lavin gets a few other good recruits and gets our two starters to stay we will be a bubble team next year.

Not even close.
We're a bubble team now and look at who graduates.
Next year is a rebuild.

I think with our SOS next year we will have a shot. Maui, Syracuse, duke, gavitt challenge. We will have one of the best SOS in the country. If we can win some games we have a shot

With some good coaching...

Anyone know what ADR's weight is now?

It is about the same as Stainbook's

I think ADR is much heavier.

Don't know if it's accurate but, according to their roster weights, he is 50 lbs heavier.

Yeah, but those extra inches are in his ass.

About the only thing I am looking forward to next year is seeing ADR play at that size. He's a big dude.

Stainbrook in his freshman year was 340 pounds. He worked hard and now plays at about 275. Adonis is well over 300 pounds & has not adopted Stainbrook approach to date. In my opinion, Adonis could be an effective player in BE in Stainbrook mode, but has a "ton" of work to do. Will he? Hope so.

Adonis might need to face a high level D1 opponent and realize he isn't in shape to keep up for him to see the light and drop the weight

Doesn't he practice against CO everyday?

That is true. But when you're on national television in the Maui invitationals and you aren't in good enough shape maybe that might be an awakening experience
