Next Coach?

I can tolerate any respectful position on this coach, so long as it's not repeated 50 times a day, which it is.

I can tolerate people believing they are fans also while in the process of clamoring for a new coach. It's totally your opinion and right to express it.

I also can't understand perpetuating this discussion in the midst of a run that could earn us our first NCAA bid in 4 years. Basically it says that the fire Lavin guys really aren't happy with us being on the cusp of a bid. It can wait till the offseason, no?

What I can't tolerate is grown men attending our most important game of the season and of the previous four, and booing the head coach in pre game introductions. It would piss me off enough if they were Georgetown fans, but i'd really be tempted to put my foot in the back of both of them. Yea, yea, I know it's your legal right once you buy a ticket, but if I ran the ticket office and had any say, the next seat you bought from me would be in the nosebleeds, even if the 100's were empty.

While we are at it, one of the parties who identified themselves as booing worked the room at Carnesecca's bday bash, and took the title "birthday bash" a little too seriously as he bashed Lavin to anyone who would listen.

That being said, I'm not trying to attack Avon, who I know is a passionate fan, but the behavior just drives me nuts.

I just don't get it.

Beast I appreciate you singling me out here and I'm sorry me booing steve lavin at a gAme makes you want to resort to violent behavior. Just the idea that I have that much power over someone really touches me. Maybe we can figure out a way to channel some of that negative energy into something more positive, but you may want to join the Dr. Phil message board for that. I don't think youll get the answer here.

As for me posting the same thing over and over fifty times a day as you said somewhere in that post where you were babbling on about sticking ur foot into my head, I think you are exaggerating and honestly -95% of the posters here are pro Lavin....my point is he shouldn't be extended just on making the NCAAs. He should be judged on the overall body of work which has been underwhelming and additionally the recruiting for next year which is shaping up to be a disaster....because we will be losing Harrison Pointer Greene and Branch for sure and maybe Jordan, so that production has to be replaced somewhere.

I have met you before, I have seenyouatgames and I know you are a big fan, so I trynot to post anything to troll you but I am not changing my stance on the coach, and the job he's done. I respect you as a fan and I respect your opinion even though it might not be the same as mine but your post is imbecilic a childish in every sense of the word just because. I am not acting as you feel I should be.

As for my father he didn't boo Lavin and I have no idea what he said about Lavin or didn't say at LCs party. All I an say is he isn't happy with the coach and job done by coach. Anything else you can ask him when you see him. and he did mention to me though that your father was a "great guy" and that Lavin had balls for missing Louie's party.

Avon, I respect your opinion, but there's a time and place for everything. And booing Lavin in front of his players on Senior Day at the Garden -- a meaningful day they're sharing with the coach who recruited them, who mentored them (especially DLO), and for whom they obviously have great affection -- wasn't it. It's like going to a friend's wedding and booing his father when he walks down the aisle because you don't like him: it gets attention, but it's in poor taste and, let's face it, aside from infuriating those who disapprove of such behavior, it's of zero consequence.

TBH, I didn't feel good about calling you out. I know you're a big fan.

Over the years, especially when I was younger, I've yelled a few things at games in the heat of a moment that I wasn't proud of. The difference between my transgressions and yours is that 1) I immediately knew they were dumb things, and 2) they were always directed at the opponent, not our own guys.

Since a few days have elapsed, and you don't see anything wrong with booing Lavin before the biggest game of the year, during a hot streak by the team, and on Senior day no less, then we aren't going to resolve anything here.

When I root for a team, they are ALL my guys. I hated NR as coach for the last few years but was even rooting for him to win until the very last moment of his tenure. When it was over, I was glad he was fired. If Lavin fails, he won't be renewed, and I'm in with that. Until then, I root for him, whether I like him or not.

If it makes you feel better, I think I stated I would feel like kicking you in the back, not the head. Considering where I grew up, your lucky I didn't suggest having you whacked.

We just got our 21 st win of the season, and a road win no less. As Louie used to say a Big East road win is like 2 at home. We will dance in 2015.

Can we please give this thread a rest for a few weeks , that is until our season is over ?
Is that too much to ask ?
Thank you.

And wasn't it that same Looie who wore sweaters and not suits & ties? Or am I just imaging that?

Yes, too much to ask.

Are you above some good ol' superstition? :) We close this, and boom, two first round exits, watch!

peace. :)

can we just lock this thread up till the tournament is over ?

That would be the best thing, but hasn't it been asked numerous times already? Let's not worry about the coaching situation until after the season. Let's enjoy this ride.

More requests to lock the thread? I will never understand disallowing discussion on a topic because some disagree with the opinion it serves.

Thank God for the first amendment.

Likely not. I am sure it is subject to the discretion of its owner.

I posted my current feeling on the coach yesterday and feel no need to reiterate. That said, the censoring of specific topics seems to defeat the purpose of a message board.

I stayed out this thread and somewhat away from this board due to the toxicity. Frankly, this thread is disrespectful to the staff and, more so, to this community. Some folks aren't even aware or don't care about the community, as long as they can spout and spew their madness. They feel it's their opinion, and they should be allowed to say or do whatever they want without any regard to the community. Like I've said before, pull that act in person and be ostracized and viewed as a jerk. Or, get your teeth knocked out depending on who you're dealing with.

There are folks who have stayed away (in some ways, myself included) due to the level of foolishness on here. If losing key members on the board is fine, then so be it. I don't call the shots here. What the eff ever....

Keep rollin', Johnnies!

Since I am the guilty party that started this thread, I am ok with the mods locking this up.

You didn't have an agenda though

I usually just ignore your posts because they're not even worth my time and I can feel my IQ dropping as I read them but I will break this down as simple as possible for you because you can't fathom this: my agenda is for SJU to be competitive every single year And for the coach to work hard recruiting and have us in position to be in the NCAAs every year. Being in another rebuild in year six is not acceptable. If you don't understand this I'll try to use pictures in all my future posts directed at you so you can follow easily. Ok? Do you understand?

He's 11-6 in the conference this year and has won the BE Tournament. Not too shabby.

Also a relentless recruiter.

I think we all want the things you stated above but it is not necessary to denigrate a fellow fan and poster to make that point. ;)
As for the pictures, that is my current schtick! Yours better be funny! B)
Finally, while we seem to agree the staff, with Lavin in particular, have not closed deals the past two years, and, other than the year coach was struck with cancer (not a funny subject with all due respects to Dr. Fun), the fans who do not need pictures for your explanation and who are much more objective see that Lavin has indeed put St. John's in a position for post season every year he has been on the bench. Two NCAA's and 2 NIT's for a program left raped and ravaged by your old mentor Jar head and the holy Vincention exorcism directed by a "safe" Catholic black coach is the main reason why you fear for a future that has not arrived as yet. As I told you in private next year will be a rebuild regardless of who is coach. My problem with yours and others here is none of you can come up with a visible national brand coach to replace the wizard and are content with a mid major guy to lead us to post season every year in one of the toughest conferences in America. To just want a coach fired because you just want "change " may be the equivalent of throwing out the baby with the bath water.
All that may be left in your scenario is a dirty ring around the tub.
