Hi all, Adam here. I haven't been active on redmen/red.fans since last season for a couple reasons. First, my wife gave birth to our daughter (first child) and I've been cutting back on some activities given how time consuming it's been. That said, we're both thrilled that she's here and healthy.
Second, I didn't care to make a NET thread this year because our pathetic OOC schedule and terrible advanced metrics weren't worth defending. We had a shot if we got off to a solid Big East start, but barring a massive turnaround we obviously won't be making the Tournament. I'm not aware of a team with a NET >100 in January who went on to get an at-large. Yes, it's still possible we will turn things around, but very unlikely.
I'm making this thread now because there's something new worth discussing. St. John's needs to quietly start the hiring process for their next coach. Reach out to Pitino immediately and go from there. He needs to be choice #1, St. John's can't overthink this.
Just in case Pitino isn't interested, then there are a few candidates that need to be evaluated right away as backup. Personally there isn't one I'm thrilled about, but certainly some who were more enticing than Mike Anderson was at the time.
Happy New Year all, looking forward to a new chapter in 2023.
