New York Mets 2025 Season

Really it boils down to the pussification of the modern athlete. Everyone talks about the flopping NBA players but top of my list is the MLB starters! “Ooo I throw too hard and catch pitch as much!”

I don't disagree with that at all. It's hysterical watching pitchers limping to the finish line at 90 pitches when Ron Darling talks about throwing 190 pitches in a game at Yale and 130+ in MLB games.

But have to play the hand you have...and it's pretty clear what we have. Peterson has never been a workhorse. Holmes might be next year, but he needed to be at 130-140 innings this year. Megill can't be part of 5-man rotation (even with the extra days off at the start of the season) or he will be injured by May. His consistency there is almost comical. Senga absolutely needs to be part of a true 6-man rotation. Our bullpen was completely destroyed by July from overuse.

I understand not wanting to mess with a stud like McLean -- and I think they handled his development perfectly -- but why not throw Tidwell, Blackburn, and Sproat more often? If they get rocked, at least it completely saves the A bullpen arms and gives your starters extra rest?

Well it would be hard to throw Tidwell as he is a SF Giant and mercifully Blackburn is somewhere in the Yankees organization.

LOL.😂 I’ll assume you were talking pre deadline.

It’s true and if I had to venture to guess I’d say almost all staffs have to deal with the same issue as the Mets (not confirmed just speculating).

One good thing going for us is we have a ton of depth from within so we don’t necessarily have to go on a Dodgers type spree to both sign and trade for pitchers. You need like 7 or 8 of them now minimum to get through a season and I think the young pitchers + Scott being healthy next year will be solid. Maybe sign 1 proven arm and the rotation is as good as it can be.

Wouldn’t hurt to get an innings eater with a history of staying healthy…even if his ERA is 4.00. A Steve Trachsel type.

Giants lost, so essentially they are out. They would need to go 9-0 if we go 5-4.

We need to root for the Phillies over Arizona.

Cincy also has a tough series against the Cubs.

Time for us to add a bit of distance here.

My hope is if we make it in, everyone plays a bit looser.

We had that last year times 3 in manea, Quintana & severino.
This winter I liked manea signing, although for too much $$.
But turns out the other 2 are eating innings this year, Quintana w a good ERA.

Senga got roughed up at AAA last night. I guess he won’t be able to help even if they make the playoffs. Tough guy to figure out but he’s a mess.

I’m still on the he is hurt train

Is McNeil hurt? If not, playing righty / lefty with a guy batting .069 is just more evidence of Mendoza seemingly lack of awareness of the urgency of these games.

Jose Siri isn't helping.
The fact that the Mets inserted this guy into the lineup is a joke. He flat out stinks. He can’t hit. Period.

So he needs to be almost perfect in the field. Yeah it was a tough play that dropped right out of his glove. Major League and that SHOULD be an out. Then failing to cut off the triple is ridiculous. CYO bad.

Another catastrophe acquisition by Stearns and our scouts. Dude is not a ML player on a contending team.

My closest comp for Jose Siri is Ryan Thompson. Anyone old enough to remember. Looked like an athlete. If he made “contact” wow. Of course, that almost never happened.
