New York Mets 2025 Season

I think the McLean “didn’t have his stuff” is a bit of a misnomer. I think the salient point is he didn’t have command of the pitches the game plan intended on him using to start the game.
But he had the “stuff” to change the approach on the fly and get back on track quickly.
Very, very impressive.
Longevity in the bigs is about adjusting and he and Torrens did it beautifully.

I think people conflate “didn’t have his stuff” with “didn’t have his command” often.

But yes, the way he battled until he found his command was impressive. And then once he started rolling he was unhittable. Retired the last 14 batters.

Sometimes he reminds me of a knuckleballer - his stuff has so much movement that I'm not entirely sure he knows where it's going all the time.

Really a joy watching this kid pitch.

His pitches sometimes move like a wiffle ball. And I think you are right that he is not always sure where it is going by that whipping leg action he has after releasing the ball.

It’s as if he is trying to guide it.

Might be time to change our catching positioning. Catchers Interference is happening too frequently with the Mets. Not sure why.

Just cost us a run.

It’s time to DFA Helsley. What is mendoza thinking putting him in a close game. That loss falls on Mendoza. He outs in Soti instead of letting Holmes work through a jam and now this call.

Is there a player who has skyrocketed the list of most hated Mets players as quickly as Helsley? Holy crap this guy has cost us at least 3 games already and that’s not counting today bc they were losing. This guy is the worst!
