It doesn't make a lot of sense to trade him now. They can keep him for 3 more years and still get a trove of players and draft picks.The thing is Pittsburgh is 14 games under .500 with Skenes pitching Cy Young level. They are awful and their only 2 big contracts are awful now. They are screwed for a few years unless they sell off.
He’s not a big financial commitment for another 4.5 seasons. He makes peanuts the next two years and then has 3 years of arbitration.
If they are smart they will listen to any interest. The Nationals did well trading Soto, and not even the Yankees could hold onto him.
