New York Mets 2025 Season

Huge upgrade IF Nunez pitches anywhere near last season. Don’t wish injuries on anyone but probably last we ever see of Danny Young.
Posted my comment right before I saw yours. It certainly could be, but he isn't even arbitration eligible until 2027 and free agent until 2031.

Him having no options makes him a tough guy to carry on the 25-man, but I am sure we'll keep him on a prolonged 60 day IL stint next year and try to pass the buck into the offseason after next

We didn’t lose because of the Umpire. Of course a couple of the close ones didn’t go our way. However, Tidwell was faltering down 4-2 and Mendoza let Tidwell try to get the last out that inning and he gave up another hit to make it 6-2. That was a big part of the game.

Let’s get this 2nd game and head off to the desert on a positive note.

Nimmo has definitely been playing better but my god it feels like every AB he has a 85% chance of rolling over to first/second

In their last six losses, only one game has been by two runs — the rest have all been by one.

Clearly the team is very good and ran into some bad luck tonight. Gotta be more consistent with RISP, but I like what I generally see. Looking forward to Manaea returning and seeing what we have in Montas.

Losing to the Cardinals 2x in one day sucks. The Cardinals are not good. So many missed opportunities today. Very frustrating. Sure you can’t win them all but just missed so many chances. Now onto more games with the Dbacks on the Road who are a better team than the Redbirds.

Love to see him and Nolan McClean do well. It would be great to have 3 guys in the rotation throughout the Soto contract that came up through the farm system and are under team control. We've seen that #5 starters are going for 10-12 mill a year.

Marillac, by 3 guys I assume you are referring to Tong, McClean and Sproat. Don’t forget Christian Scott who was up last year before he needed TJ surgery. He is expected to be good to go by ST 2026. He had the surgery last August.

Of course, these things don’t always work out as planned so who knows?

Any 3 homegrown guys that haven't reached free agency taking up 3 rotation spots through the life of Soto's contract (and hopefully beyond). I follow Alderson's "buckets" approach since baseball is so hard to project. Scott, Sproat, and maybe Tidwell in the "very likely backend starter or better bucket," Tong and McClean in the "promising but still questions" bucket, the lottery ticket bucket, the surprise backend starter bucket, etc.

With all the young position players, I'd be happy if we selected 8-10 college pitchers in the draft this year and spent the international pool money on up the middle, projectable position players like we usually do.
