New Players

Save the schollie for next year's class which is stocked with talent!
As long as you promise not to bitch and moan next season if we are short at point guard! :p :)

Never seen him play but wonder if allocation of precious schollie to Owens was prudent. I am schocked that Christian Jones has not transferred.

Big men are precious too, and if you have the chance to work with a potentially good one for a year instead of just throwing him in there, you do it.

I think C. Jones is a loss cause. From reading all of your posts on C. Jones over the past few years, he is a PF that cannot rebound or score. I kind of doubt that coaching can be of much help here.

I remember reading before the beginning of last season that a few of you had such high hopes for C. Jones. It never worked out for you or C. Jones.

Coaching can always help some what, but I am not sure it will help to any serviceable level here.

It is a shame, as I also thought we had a 5-7 rebound per game player here a few years ago.

I don't know why people had such high hopes for Jones. Wasn't he a 2 star recruit out of HS?

No idea.

“From the first day it was evident he was special,” Lavin said of Jones. “His poise…his ability to see the game, he can bring the ball up the floor, and he can post up as well as any freshman I’ve ever had.”

I was at Marquette game during jones' freshman year and he showed some flashes. He has some decent offensive tools. Problem is he's a weak rebounder and a below avg defender. Even with good coaching I'm not sure that can be rectified. I agree that the staff must see something in him or I suspect he'd be gone.

I have to say it was the strangest thing to watch lavin hype jones. Gift redshirted his freshman year as I recall. Jones played a fair amount in the beginning and then rode the pine for most of the year except the Marquette game. The following year jones redshirted and gift played. Strange.

Gift was a juco transfer. Played his first year here as a jr, then redshirted the next year and played the following year as a senior.

That is consistent with what I posted. By "his" freshman year I was referring to jones

Have another drink Lavin!
