NCAA Tournament Thread

My last NCAA Final comment;

As Logen & others noted, Arcidiacono made a great play, drew guys, gave Jenkins ball in right spot with time dwindling & actually shielded defender a bit. He made the smart play, not a flashy one. He is epitome of a savvy, effective leader.

I agree with you Paultz, wonder what happened to all the posters on the Nova board who couldn't wait for Brunson to take Arcidiacono's minutes. The young fella was blamed for all that went wrong over the past few years. Happy to see him finish his career with a Championship.
Congratulations to Jay Wright on a successful season. He has shown that you can win a Championship with student athletes, instead of rent-a-players.

Just to add, he has been saavy since day 1 which is what impresses me most about him. That foul he drew against Kansas on a 3 pointer to stem the tide was the type of heady play he was making in the BE at the age of 18. Great player, great mind, great accomplishment.

He is the epitome of a winner. And no one will be able to question that for the rest of his life
I knew that his freshman year. A real heady player. RE: SJBB, I think NIT is our ceiling unless everything gels. Sirvo: didn't see your post, I guess great minds think alike LOL

Great poise. With so little time left, typically you'll see the player take the in-bounds pass, madly dash up the court, then force up a half-court shot on the fly without sensing if a teammate is open or exactly how much time is left on the clock. Richly deserves all the accolades he's been getting.

Great game. Can't wait for the season to start. How many days until midnight madness? Let's get 'er done! Go Johnnies! Let's go Redmen!

193 days until Midnight Madness.....

Awesome game...glad Nova won- but has any commented how Roy didnt have anyone guard the inbounder? who was Jenkins and came up court unguarded... loved his comment, "once i one two, you know its going up"

Yes, that is a great line.
Good observation about not guarding the inbounder but don't know if it was Roy's fault. When UNC players were being interviewed at the press conference, Paige state something about for "some reason" Jenkins was open and he was there best shooter. I think Hicks was supposed to guard him but he hedged to Arch and when Arch passed to Jenkins, made an attempt to block the shot. Arch made a nice slip pass (passed and stepped infront of the defenders) which provided just some room for Jenkins to really step into it. Just two great sequences (Paige and Jenkins shots) at the end of a great game.

Fwiw;
Early 2017 National Champion Odds...
Duke 9/2
Kentucky 6/1
Villanova 8/1
...
Xavier 20/1
Seton Hall 50/1
Butler 100/1

For me, clutch shot aside, it was all about Nova's defense not taking a single UNC possession off.

That is what I want to see out of SJ next year irrespective of experience level.

Just read why last night's broadcast was so biased towards NC as I watched on TNT. That's because there were three different broadcasting crews televising last night's game on three different channels. An NC biased crew, a Nova biased crew and a neutral broadcasting crew. Someone forgot to send me that memo.

They've done that for a few years now. They mentioned it early in the broadcast and it was specified in the guide. They should repeat that fact more on each of the broadcasts.

Anyone know what nova's odds were this time last year? Sure somebody cashed out pretty well

Charles Barkley called his two friends that made the same mistake dopes. As I don't even know you I feel comfortable in calling you a dope also. ;) :)

In keeping with the NCAA Tournament thread, but with a bit of a twist: UConn women crush Syracuse, 82-51, for their fourth title in four years. Hats off to Gino: his 11th title, and 10th in the last 17 years. Quite an accomplishment.

The Knicks should hire him.

That was my take on the game and the tournament. Nova sustained a very high level of intensity the whole game. It wore their opponents out. I think if UNC were able to sustain anything comparable they would have won easily.

I mentioned the different broadcasts twice on this thread when people posted about the broadcasts bias but stayed away from Sir Charles remarks about his friends or the one he made Saturday night about a Reggie Bush tweet on the same topic during the semi-finals.
