NCAA Tournament Thread

Let's not miss out on congratulating FOX SPORTS. (THEY should buy the beer at the next party)
I, too, noticed the bias with the camera work, BE mentions, and the ridiculous referee bias by one of the announcers until it dawned on me that this is a network championship contest as well as a ball game and FOX won!!!

Ever try to get an early report on a BE score or game in season on ESPN or anywhere; it ain't easy. You can always get the ACC scores early on FOX.
Hooray for FOX and their management; They had the chutzpah to invest in us and have juggled their balls for two years to keep us visible nationally. Good for them! Perhaps we should consider buying the beers at the next party for them. At least, when you see their guys, tip your cap.
THANK YOU NATIONAL CHAMPION NETWORK SPONSOR FOX SPORTS!!!

Villanova went 13-19 in 2011-12, tied for 13th in the Big East..then 2 great recruiting classes later they were back in the mix. Developing the chemistry that Nova had this year takes a few years of playing together and trusting the system. Speaks volume about not playing the one and done recruiting merry go round. If there was ever a slam dunk coach of the year, it is Jay Wright this year.

Villanova played one of the best NCAA tournament's I have seen in a while. Great final and big win.

I think we go on to play in this NCAA tournament thingy next year. Go St John's

Would love to be surprised, but the year after may be more attainable.

If Whitehead stays, Nova, Xavier & Pirates will be in top 25 for sure. It is not hard to make an argument that Creighton and Butler will be better than us. If Bentil stays, Cooley will make PC decent again. Georgetown has a nice group returning. Perhaps we finish higher than Marquette & certainly DePaul.

Respect your spirit & opinion, but I just don't see it next season. Perhaps in year three of this massive rebuild, we can at least be in the conversation. Of course all of this is based on how all the rosters shake out. Hopefully all our guys are eligible, healthy & improve over the summer. Nothing would please me more than you being correct.

Per Rothstein;

Villanova, Xavier, and Creighton all Top-25 teams. Seton Hall will be if Whitehead returns. #shbb twitter.com/mathyouwitt/st…

I thought the broadcast on TBS was fair with the "National Team". I didn't switch to TNT (which was the the UNC team specific broadcast or TRU (which was the Nova team specific broadcast) like I did a couple of times during the games on Saturday. Also thought the post game stuff done by both TBS and ESPN was well done.

My last NCAA Final comment;

As Logen & others noted, Arcidiacono made a great play, drew guys, gave Jenkins ball in right spot with time dwindling & actually shielded defender a bit. He made the smart play, not a flashy one. He is epitome of a savvy, effective leader.

For that to happen, the returnees will have to make huge strides and a few of the newcomers would have to come up huge.

The big east next year will be Nova, Xavier, Creighton at the top.

The rest will fight for 4-6 seeds in the BET and possible NCAA bids. I just have a feeling we sneak into 5th place, and with our good OOC schedule get in.

But I agree, next year it will be a surprise if we do, even though I think we do it, I recognize that, and two years from now it should be expected

If all five starters comeback, Seton Hall has to be in the top three ahead of Creighton.

Great game. Can't wait for the season to start. How many days until midnight madness? Let's get 'er done! Go Johnnies! Let's go Redmen!

A lot of people think whitehead is gone, but if he comes back I agree. Even without Whithehead I think they'll make the tournament.

Great game; even greater ending. Only St. John's winning the national title could top this for me. Classy coach, classy team. And a charter BE program to boot.

Sadly Redken we'll never see it
This is as close as you can get

History's on your side, Salty Dog. But in a few short years, when geriatric dementia starts settling in, my impaired sense of reality might include a number of NCAA titles.

How do the Knicks and 76'ers not throw a thirty to thirty five million dollar five year offer to Wright and how can he turn it down?

Those offers might start coming from more than just the Knicks and Philly. From various interviews and articles, it appears Villanova is his dream job. If that's still true, I hope the money doesn't lure him out of happiness. He's not exactly pinching pennies on his Nova salary anyway

Awesome game...glad Nova won- but has any commented how Roy didnt have anyone guard the inbounder? who was Jenkins and came up court unguarded... loved his comment, "once i one two, you know its going up"

I'm always an optimist anyways, but if things go well I see us as a bubble team. It all comes down to Lovett and Ponds, if we get elite PG play we can be that bubble team. This year we didn't even have MAAC level PG play.

ESPN has Nova, Xavier and Seton Hall with Whitehead in next year top 25

He is the epitome of a winner. And no one will be able to question that for the rest of his life
