NCAA - Game 1 - San Diego St. (Friday)

Ugh this hurts. Proud of this group of kids. Wanted better for them especially D Lo he's a stand up kid.

I'm just hoping that we get better from here. With or with out Lavin. Sad Day for all Redmen
 
I don't know what I expected tonight win or lose but I do know these young men made me proud on their effort and heart. Thank you seniors for an enjoyable year.
And as far as Obekpa is concerned have another puff you selfish loser. Some "brother." And knowing you I expect you won't return.probably expecting to get drafted. As I said have another puff because you are delusional.

and as to next year, i won't care how shitty we are, new coach and i'm staying on board. If Lavin stay then I'm done until he goes, I swear I'll never watch another SJU game as long as Lavin stays.

Bill, if you bitch and complain when they suck next year with Lavin here, I hope Johnny, Desco and others remind you, that you have no right to complain. Since you wanted him back.
 
Feel bad for dangelo the most passionate player I may have ever seen play for sju. Not been a lavin hater, but what the hell was he thinking giving Joey dellarosa any amount of pt tonight
 
These gave their all. They played their hearts out! They were undermanned and just didn't have enough tonight. San Diego State never shoots like this, I hope they shoot this on Sunday, I want Duke to go down. All in all, at least we made the dance.

Unfortunately they won't stop Okafor. And I don't know about you but I wasn't overwhelmed with their so called "excellent defense." Duke will destroy them, especially since they won't be hitting threes again.
And I have to throw this in - whenever there is a loose ball you do not try to dribble it. That's fundamental #1. Remember teaching this to 8 year olds back in Smithtown. Yet how many times do we see college level players do it?

Believe I remember Polee hitting a 3 early second half and saying that is his fifth 3.Thought team over achieved and did better than I thought they would so Lavin did a good job with roster he had at his disposal. Of course it is on him that we were so shorthanded with a lack of front court players.To be going into year six probably with either little to no talent returning I hope he is gone by Monday. Predicting a "mutual parting of ways".
 
How disappointing is it tonight with the team starving for some front court contribution Jones has gone from a freshman with some promise to an absolute zero.
 
They should hang a banner. First team to make the NCAAs without a recruiter. The lack of eligible recruits this year and the packaging of players like balamou and Marco gets you to this point. No bench did this team in. Feel for the seniors. They deserved better. But thanks to them for leaving it all on the floor every night. Going to miss these guys.
 
losses and end of season used to bother me a ton. long since past that point little by little since the fran years. and jarvis 1st yr with frans players. heck even missed the 1st 10 minutes tonight shoveling.

One thing this game made me realize, is that I truly hope Rysheed comes back. There was a time this season when I didn't give a crap if he left or not. But Rysheed has made some plays thst really make me think he can be a special player. And it's not just the highlight dunks. That pick and roll with dom was a great pass. Phil dlo and branch run that play 100s of times and they rarely have the court vision to hit the roll man in stride.

And for all my criticism, his jump shot has improved trememndously. To the point that I wonder if his hand or wrist was hurt early in the season.


Rysheed is the kindve player who could benefit from returning, because there are a lot of question marks surrounding him and he could come back and have a Kris Dunn type season and play himself into the lottery.

I seriously doubt he stays, but the only shot we probably have is for Lavin to stay. I doubt the kid will want to stay and start all over with new coach
