[soundcloud][/soundcloud]
wonder what this loss does to our NET?
Hilarious man!
We all needed that!!!
Thanks!

So to sum it up...
No height
Guard oriented team that can’t shoot
Poor basketball iq
Poorly coached
Poorly constructed roster
No bench coach
No shooters
No back up point guard
No heart
No bench
One dimensional players
Can’t believe we lost.

Stats are cool and all but anyone who understands the eye test can see clear as day: there's something fundamentally wrong with the team from coaching to the players we recruit to the lack of execution on basic stuff.

That will be one of the great mysteries of this year. Did he wear down? Is there an injury? I can’t explain it.
When he came people were saying Minlend, Glover, Middleton. Who would have thought a poor man's Ron Rowan?
Unfortunately Marvin Clark was a one trick pony. Without the outside shot he was tendered useless. Heron's performance is truly bewildering. Too small to go inside but lost the other attributes he showed at Auburn. Reason alone to lose Mitch Richmond. Feel bad for Slick. Had good teammates in Simon and Figueroa but did not gel with any other players. I think the Matt experiment should be revisited. Mostly I feel bad for Mully. I was hoping his older players were going to be more responsive to his situation but they played without purpose. I think players like Heron and Clark had mentally checked out. Heron missing 3 free throws in a row. Clark zero points and playing like it was his first college game.
Hard to motivate players who don't have 100 percent to give.
Really hard to criticize Ponds that much. He was double teamed all season. Up to the other players to score when open also. I don’t think he will gain much from staying. It will be interesting to see what Heron does.
Speaking for myself, I wasn’t criticizing him, I just don’t see him getting drafted. He’s not a point guard. He’s a short 2. He had a better shot of being drafted last year.

That was one of the worst basketball games I have ever watched. And then I come here to commiserate and see some of the worst commentary you could imagine. Now look, I am not happy about this season obviously. To me it was a complete disappointment, and Mullin and his team underperformed for the last 6 weeks. But all this “fire the coach, bring in a competent coach” is so stupid. You all would jump up and down for that maniac Hurley who coached his team up so much that they almost lost to that atrocity we put out there today. ASU was almost as bad as SJU was tonight.

So go cry and whine about the coach. Pretend you won’t be a fan anymore. And please leave if that’s how you feel. I choose to continue to support this team through thick and thin. As bad as Mullin has been, he did not miss 10+ free throws today, he did not throw the ball away unforced 10+ times, he did not miss wide open shots and layups. Yes the team was poorly constructed, but with a half decent effort by our guys today should have been a win.

Making NCAA and losing unfortunately constitutes success around here. Just saying.
If that were the case the last coach would not have been fired...
From result stand point it is absolutely a success. Not saying I feel that way or admin feels that way but it is a fact.
Then I don't understand your point. I don't believe Cragg for a minute thinks this season was a success. Nor do I think they thought that way 4 years ago.

And my larger point is how you make the NCAAs matters. Going 8-10 and sneaking in and losing in play in game is different then say going 13-5 and getting a 4 or 5 seed and getting upset in 1st round. The regular season matters. And this was a very mediocre subpar regular season regardless of what happened tonight. That is a fact

This is why alcohol is key.
Lol.
Hang in there, man.
There will be better days.
That’s what I say every year about every team I root for.

Honestly, I’m not surprised in the least that we lost. I’m just more surprised at how bad ASU is. Even just a competent game tonight and we would have won.
Totally agree.
We’re clearly the better team and played lousy to lose it.
That simple.

The point is based off our last 20 something years an NCAA berth unfortunately would be considered a success around here since that has been our high water mark and often we stink.

Considered a "success" to whom?

No I can 100% assure you that is not how this is being looked at nor should it. The expectations for this year and for these 4 years are not based on the last 20 so not sure why you think that is relevant. The idea because SJU was this thisclose to making NIT that somehow makes this a success is false. And Cragg rightly does not think so.
How does anyone on this team leave early?

Ponds is the only one who has a case, but where’s he gonna go? He’s way too small, not good enough handle for the NBA. Who is advising these guys?
Hope Heron goes too.

Hurley has freshmen and sophs on his team he just led to 23 wins, a tourney berth, a tourney win, 2nd in their conference at 12-6. He's 72-57 as coach in his 4th year in which it only took him 2 years to rebuild and have them ranked as high as 3 and 17 in the past 2 seasons.

You're absolutely nuts if someone had a gun to your head and you said Hurley wouldn't do better than Mullin here.

If you were some random fan and looked at a college basketball encyclopedia since 2000 and had to pick out ST John's best seasons, this year unfortunately would be one of them. Not defending anyone just commenting on sad state of program the last 2 decades.

Who knows what Cragg thinks or doesn’t think. I don’t think anyone on this site knows nearly as much as they think they know (and I don’t know a thing).

Doesn’t mean this season was a success. Especially in light of what we are losing and gaining for next season.
