Mussini Gone

:yell:
3rd yr Mussini >Freshman Trimble

I agree. Of course losing Mussini does not have 'the impact of losing Lovett, for example. But his loss hurts for next season. Mussini knew his role and accepted it.

Chances that a freshman will replicate that is less, imo.

Don't get me wrong I loved Mussini and his steadfast determination to become the best player he could but other than foul shooting and some occasions of streak shooting 3s, he was a huge liability on defense. Both Lovett and Ponds fill the shooting role and both played porous defense. What another 6'3 physical guard can bring is defensive intensity. Not familiar with the guard they are pursuing but if he brings a Phil Greene level of defense without the over dribbling I will be very happy.

This makes perfect sense. Careful with your logic though, those on here who can't separate emotions and personal liking of a player vs. productivity on the floor, which in the end is what matters most, will be upset with you.

Call me a bad guy, but this won't affect us very much at all.

What you lookin' at? You all a bunch of f___n' a______s. You know why? You don't have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your f____n' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." So... what that make you? Good? You're not good. You just know how to hide, how to lie. Me, I don't have that problem. Me, I always tell the truth. Even when I lie. So say good night to the bad guy! Come on. The last time you gonna see a bad guy like this again, let me tell you. Come on. Make way for the bad guy. There's a bad guy comin' through! Better get outta his way!

I found a way to quote Goodfellas and Scarface in consecutive days on a college basketball forum. That is pretty good! :)

Happy to confirm that @FMussini signed with Nike for the next four seasons. #SigmaSportsFamily #DreamBIG #Grinding

Mussini will be missed1 Forget about foot speed, defense, etc. As a 3rd Year player, he has already demonstrated that he is a good shooter, capable of breaking a game open with his accuracy. As he did many times in his shortened Career here. He would have provided experience, shooting and Court smarts. Chris Mullin was never the best Athlete on many of his teams but, if you can shoot like Chris did , it doesn't matter. Not that Mussini is on Mullin's level but, you can never have too many shooters. Take it to the Bank, regardless of who is coming here, Clark and Simon, Mussini is a loss to the Program.

I'm hoping Trimble and Simon will give us enough of what FM couldn't give us to at least make us break even.

Would say that whatever his numbers, Mussini was a light it up kind of shooter who could get streaky and make 3 or 4 threes very quickly when hot, often in the second half when it mattered. Wish him the best - his future was in Europe anyway, and he was a good representative of the program while here.

size and athleticism for sure. Then Dixon next season will be big time scorer. No knock on Mussini but seems like significant upgrades all around.

Hope Fun noticed him being double teamed. He would have been a monster for us this year. Huge loss. ;)

I'm not really familiar with the levels of international ball in Europe...

What level is Mussini playing at and what kind of salary would someone of his level earn per season ?

I couldn't find much, but an Ohio state guard that left for Italy (he is Italian) was reportedly getting $300k a year.
