awesome awesome press conference...Mully looked fired up!!! crowd got pumped!!!!
need these recruits to see the future!

That was a lot of fun, it feels great to be back on campus, and I think that was the hope of the administration when they sent out the invitation to alumni, to not just welcome Coach back but to try to unify the St. John's family. Well done. A few thoughts about the substance:
1. (As a Mets fan I loathe what I'm about to say) Mullin and Jeter sound like they could be lost brothers. Not by accent, but in inflection, conviction, and confidence. These guys aren't cocky, they truly believe in themselves and are unwavering in that belief. I think that's why both seem to handle press so well, they intimidate without trying to be intimidating.
2. I don't think Gary Payton gets recruited by Coach Mullin either. I love the NYC talk, and love when the players represent the student body, but I do hope the bump in salary isn't just by exchanging flights for tokens. Jersey is close enough, right Coach?
3. This really was a lovefest, our President could have admitted to having a handshake agreement 3 months ago and no fan would've been the least upset, even if that would be a professional bruised eye.
4. The players on the roster better be in the gym...a lot. I got a feeling Coach Mullin has a lot more of Coach Knight in him than just the '84 Olympics, get the garbage cans ready for yesterday's lunch.
5. Came to Marillac to charge my phone, plan on leaving a season ticket deposit, and walking around campus for a bit longer, feels like home again

Followed by, "We'll be fittest team in country"

the Lupica Wennington interview gives you an idea of how seriously Mullin takes that. If anyone missed it, attached is mp3 of the audio

It was a very nice presser, but the two things that mattered to me were that he wants to recruit IMMEDIATELY and wants a great coaching staff around him.

Just look at how he transformed his body from when he was at St. John's. Even know he looks like he could lace them up (I told him so at a game early this year). Also someone posted the link to Terence Mullin's inteview in the Post. He details some of the workouts Chris did when he was home.

Great to hear Mully addressing former players, Alagia, Berry, etc. How about there's Billy Schaeffer
25 point per game, how about that, ohh 26 (voice from crowd) :cheer:

@AdamZagoria: Chris Obekpa Meets Chris Mullin, May Apologize for Suspensionhttp://t.co/yi7D7gnQSN

Get CO, Jordan and Sampson and first year would not be a disaster. Not that first year should reflect negatively on him, but would be nice to get him off to a decent start.

If those three don't come back he will actually have been left with much, much less than Norm was.

Paultz meant to say joe Olivia sorry about that the head legal counsel for the school.

I know who Joe is, just thought I would alert you of the error. I make a few myself. :)

“I just suggested that he go talk to Coach Mullin, apologize for his behavior and see what happens because that’s all you can do,” Sterling Nunnally, a St. John’s alum and former AAU coach who spoke with Obekpa at the presser, told SNY.tv.

“I told him, ‘You need to sit down with him as a young man, say you made a mistake and that’s it.’ He said him and his people are going to try to sit down with him.”

Him and his people??????????? Sheesh!

What a wonderful day to be an alumnus of St. John's University!

To Obekpa's defense, he doesn't have any family in the States so it could he his HS coach or host family that is there to support him like parents would do.

@NYPost_Brazille: "We're going to be the fittest team in the country, no doubt about that and we're going to play our tails off, I can guarantee that." #sjubb

My Favorite part was when they asked him how important recruiting was and when he will start. Right after we are done here.
