Mo and Draft

For those others it has been posted by one person, but not corroborated, that Moe stopped going to class once he declared and, if true, that makes it abundantly clear, if it wasn't already, that he's not coming back.

I was trying to keep a lid on it, but I guess it was pulled outta you. LOL

TIS posted that a couple weeks back. Just reminding those who forgot and pointing it out to those who missed it.

He did? I don't recall it, but I'll take your word.

Doesnt that hurt our Apr worse since he won't leave in good standing?

Probably.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but I believe he can't come back even if he wanted to. It has something to do with the new agreement with the NBA.

Has nothing to do with the NBA. NBA still lets you drop out of the draft sometime in June. NCAA, however, wants kids to decide by today or tomorrow to align with the late signing period. If you've already declared then you have to withdraw by the 10th or 11th. However if you haven't declared you have until some time in May to do so but once you do you can't withdraw.

So what good is the June deadline you might ask? Well if someone is not happy with their draft position they can still pull out and play in Europe/D-League and then reenter the draft next year in hopes of getting a better draft position/guaranteed contract.

Moe should stay in the draft, not hire an agent, fake his own death the night before so no one picks him, return to school and have a monster year, and then sign as a free agent right after the season for monster bucks and not be restrained by a rookie salary cap.

Unless of course that loophole that Randolph Morris was able to exploit is now closed.

Mo-kaveli?

FWIW, latest mock draft by Chad Ford has Mo going to the Cavs @ 26.

I think Mo is going to be disappointed with where he is selected in the draft, but hopefully I am wrong about that.

Where is he going to be selected? Quite frankly, no one truly knows where he's going to be selected at this time.

FWIW, my guess is second round
Bad decision - would have played the 3 next year with Sampson playing the 4
Would have had a great shot at being a lottery pick next year
But, I wish Moe the very best of luck and thank him for being the "pied piper" of his recruiting class

I hope he goes to OKC...would love to watch him play on that young team with Durant...I hate the NBA, however for some reason I'm always rooting for that team

I have never seen mock drafts so varied when it comes to a player. I have seen him as high as 9 and as low as undrafted, the majority fell between 16-26.
I really hope he goes in the first round, but I am a little worried. There are a lot of people with his body type in this draft. Royce White, Tony Mitchell, Terrance Jones, Terrance Ross, Jeff Taylor, Darius Miller etc.

It's certainly going to be interesting.

You're right, we don't know. Call it a hunch, but I believe he will be fortunate to remain in the first round. I sincerely hope that him falling to the second doesn't happen, but it wouldn't surprise me. Like I said in my initial post, I hope that I am wrong about that. I wish nothing but the best for Mo.

I think moe will measure out better than those players you listed, plus his length is ridiculous, add to that, that his potential is greater than most of those and I see him getting picked ahead of all of them.

I don't understand everyone who says Moe would be a lottery pick next year.

NBA execs project how good he'll be. I'm not sure what Moe could do next year that would improve his prospects in the eyes of scouts. They know he's 18, they anticipate him gaining weight and improving his shot. If they didn't he wouldn't even be considered where he is now.

It's not as if the NBA drafts players based on how good they are right at the moment of the draft. They anticipate how good the player will be.

And for that reason, I somewhat understand why Moe is coming out now. (Don't completely agree, but it's not up to me). But I think a legit argument could be made that he will never be more valuable to scouts than he is now.
If he comes back and doesn't drastically improve - his stock fails because he won't be living up to the improvements they expect from him.

You make an excellent point; let's face it, we all hope Harkless gets that guaranteed money. If he doesn't coming out was a huge gamble.

I don't get Desco's point at all. If Mo stayed in school and had the same #s next year, but the team made the tourney, with a less deep draft, his stock would certainly be higher. The only downside (not inconsiderable) would be an injury or major fall-off in performance, which I personally don't see).

The mock drafts have virtually NO foreign players drafted, and we all know there will be at least a few. So, Mo is not just competing wiht the kids coming out from here. I think he is late first rounder, but that will at least get him some guaranteed money.

As we hhave been told, the boat has left the dock, so let's just wish him the best.

Also, it will be grreat to have another SJU kid in the league.
