Mitch Richmond officially on board

Moose is right, Kobe said that about Artest and said he was happy he was on his team instead of defending Kobe. Not Jordan.

You are right Keady was a great Coach at Purdue.. Painter, his successor hasn't done as well in BB crazy Indiana.

Keady was old school in his Coaching style, which Lavin wasn't. I recall Keady almost being as fiery on the sidelines as Bobby Knight. And, often was close to putting his shoe up some players A-S after a stupid play. And, he worked the Officials all game through.

Keady didn't recruit our Players who Lavin brought in. Keady's teams played typical Big 10 BB, The kind Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State play.. Harrison, Pointer, Greene, Jordan,Sampson didn't play that style and Lavin certainly Coached a different brand of BB. More West Coast free lance. With Mediocre results.

We'll see what Richmond can do in a similar role. Question, was this position the same as what Ed Pinckney was being considered for in the Spring?

Despite being retired for 4 years, and whether or not it worked out for SJU, Keady did have the resume for the job. I wasn't part of the conversations between Keady and Lavin, so I don't know what Keady accomplished or didn't. For all we know it was Keady who suggested up tempo and utilizing Dom as an all purpose whirlwind. By the same token, he could have just been getting into shape and looking better, and been of no value - not for us to say. I do know that the times I spoke to him he was zoned in to SJU bball and appeared to take his role seriously.

pinckney would have been a full time assistant if hired.

I hope that Richmond's role is to be a mentor to the players and to help them get their games ready to play professionally.
