Minnesota

I hate listening to Big 10 announcers at our games. There were so many aggravating factors throughout the game, including the missed free throws and the total ref job on our home court. This counts as a very good win overall because of the lock down "D" and the seniors showing what seniors do.

We were on the line all game but the refs jobbed us? The refs were fine IMO. In a tough physical game fast paced game there are always going to be some bad calls..

The momentum changing bad calls came at the end, which was especially grating. I was ready to throw gregbodkin's dog through my TV set. Obviously, the lock down defense saved the day...and the dog.

Why was Dakich the announcer taking so many shots at DLO.

He sounded completely clueless.

No idea. And then he didn't have the decency to compliment DLo on the hustle play and the "and one" 3 he got that won us this game.

That guy was a scumbag. Glad we are gonna only be on FS1 after Friday.

Stop; Dakich raved about the play - when it occurred and on replay. Dakich is a little too honest for fans who only want announcers to fawn over their team. I don't agree with his comments on Harrison myself but the man knows the game and is very honest and open.

He wouldn't mention Harrison by name! He said good hustle by St. John's, he couldn't give him a credit cause he was dumping on him all day. I'm fine if you are honest and open but at least know what the hell you are talking about. He was going off of story lines at St. John's from when he did a game for them 2 years ago. He ignorance was baffling.

In the first half, he said nothing but good things about Harrison's ability to drive and dish, or drive and shoot. What he correctly was critical of was DLo shooting too much from the outside, especially after the 1 on 4 pullup from three on the break. In the first half he praised Dlo's ability to penetrate and said he is a much more effective player taking the ball to the hoop. And I believe he's right.

How many times did Dakich call DLo "Dominique"? i counted twice. Guy is awful. Rucco was not much better

A lot of idiots on the air. Let it go. The only time it matters is when the "expert" tells you you have cancer.

We will have to disagree but the penchant for these threads to complain about announcers and refs is astounding. IMO, Dakich is a fine announcer; doesn't mean I always agree with him but so what?

Thank god for switching to man 2 man. Hate the match up zone.
On to friday

Thank God (I always capitalize the "G" being a Catholic school kid), or can we maybe thank the coaching staff ... maybe?

I'll be honest. If I was Monasch, at halftime I would have walked into the Minnesota locker room and offered Pitino a sweet deal to coach us next season. Lucky I'm not Monasch.

No fire out of him at all...he's a little nerd and he did us a huge favor sitting Mason when he was hot and he also played us wrong the whole night on defense.

Dakich knows what he's talking about but he was annoying. You can't question Harrison's hustle based on a half of basketball. He had egg all over his face at the end with that.

As of now, looks like we're playing Gonzaga on Friday. Who cares. We are going to win.

Meanwhile, the broadcast team took some tough shots at Pitino Jr. in the closing minutes. And quite frankly, he didn't impress me at all.

Gonzaga is already taking it to Georgia. They are a match up nightmare for us. They are just HUGE. Karnowski is not only 7'1 but he's built like a linebacker.

Pangos is some guard too. This is the best Gonzaga team I've seen. I am excited to see how the guys play...it would be amazing to somehow win this one.

definitely owe Gonzaga some payback but we'll need some special play and take advantage of the easy stuff (free throws) to make a game of it

Minny looked good when they ran their stuff, however when the pressure was on they folded.
Once they lost the lead they had no answers. Green with a solid smooth game. Not too fast just right.
Dom showing maybe this will be his year and DLo although shooting poorly showed how competitive he is with the big plays down the stretch.

This Gonzaga team is special. Great backcourt. Great Frontcourt. Kentucky and Louisville transfers. Great passing, three point shipooting and inside play.

A few observations. Our last 8-10 minutes of the first half were frustrating and tough to watch. However, our defense for the other 30 minutes was as good as it's been the last few years. I also thought we saw very impressive minutes at times from each starter (everyone had a good stretch where they played well), so you hope they can play to their strengths and learn to appreciate and take advantage of what each does well. Free throws were terrible and our 3's were worse than normal, so I think it's only upside from here in those categories. Finally, although Minny was a big team, we didn't play small today for most of the game, except for where we drove the ball into someone's gut a few times...that's where we should kick it out for an open three. All in all a gutsy comeback and great win for this time of year. Now, time to top it with an even greater win on Friday. I can't wait.

Harrison played pretty bad tonight but came up big when it mattered.

Phil Greene, who had been pulling a disappearing act over the last few games and for most of this game, hit two big jumpers when we needed them.

Pointer just continues to make everyone eat crow. Sure he still makes some boneheaded plays, but he got the small crowd and the team to wake up tonight.

Obekpa is such a good anchor to this team.

For branch it is like 1 great play and then 3 bad plays. I would enjoy his presence in the game much more if he cut down on his mistakes

Jordan had an up and down game, but was generally solid and without him in the first half we coulda gone down by 15.

Overall a good game, good defense, bad FTs, this Gonzaga team is good but not unbeatable. Will be interesting to see
