Minnesota

We've learned the hard way that conference play gives you plenty of opportunities. It's the missed ones in OOC that you can never have back. Great win to add to the ledger in November.

Came back from the game and re-watched some of it. It's funny to me that 99.9% of coaches during halftime interviews are abrupt. Our coach was sitting there down 9 rambling on and on, don't think they could get Lavin off the mic if they wanted to. Actually had a nice chuckle watching that

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the board members

I was stuck working late last night so unable to go to the game, but a great job by our players. Minnesota is a very good team and that's a great resume win for the Johnnies. Gonzaga is going to be a tough team to beat, but I'll be there cheering them on.

Really good win, and makes SJU proud by keeping up the BE win streak. Jordan had some scary good passes. Not sure why the announcer felt compelled to go after Harrison so much.

I was at the game and now watching a recording...Thus far, I dont think he went after him...he highlighted a few poor decisions and was right to do so...he also heaped praise on him and the team when appropriate

Didn't think we'd pull it up, but happy we did. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the seemingly shortened rotation, which I love to see. Last year we didn't have that.

Also were glad to see the adjustments that were made at halftime. Another thing we didn't see in recent years. Still a bit too stagnant in the half court set, but we're getting better.

Watched the Gonzaga game. We can beat them, but it will take a near perfect effort, including our 3's falling.

Just watched game on dvr, don't know if its been touched on in thread, but noticed Zendon on bench in suit. Just guest or is he have a roll?

Why was Dakich the announcer taking so many shots at DLO.

He sounded completely clueless.

No idea. And then he didn't have the decency to compliment DLo on the hustle play and the "and one" 3 he got that won us this game.

That guy was a scumbag. Glad we are gonna only be on FS1 after Friday.

Stop; Dakich raved about the play - when it occurred and on replay. Dakich is a little too honest for fans who only want announcers to fawn over their team. I don't agree with his comments on Harrison myself but the man knows the game and is very honest and open.

He wouldn't mention Harrison by name! He said good hustle by St. John's, he couldn't give him a credit cause he was dumping on him all day. I'm fine if you are honest and open but at least know what the hell you are talking about. He was going off of story lines at St. John's from when he did a game for them 2 years ago. He ignorance was baffling.

In the first half, he said nothing but good things about Harrison's ability to drive and dish, or drive and shoot. What he correctly was critical of was DLo shooting too much from the outside, especially after the 1 on 4 pullup from three on the break. In the first half he praised Dlo's ability to penetrate and said he is a much more effective player taking the ball to the hoop. And I believe he's right.

Everyone is better when penetrating but without DLo we lose that game. Some of the worst commentating I've heard. They never updated the foul totals which were huge. Knocking Harrison's effort is just stupid. Couldn't believe the statement that if he played like CO he'd make the NBA. That kid knows the game and never goofs off. He's not perfect but who is? Certainly not Richard Pitino. We're one more win from national respect. Fingers crossed........

As much as I enjoy being on ESPN because of the national recognition (getting a little segment on SportsCenter, Top play of the night on the top 10, more coverage as a whole), I really enjoy being on FS1 more. The announcers last night knew nothing about our team. Saying that Harrison doesn't give enough effort couldn't be further from the truth. I would pick Bill Raftery and Gus Johnson any day of the week. They are my favorite announcers and they are great together.

As for the game, the effort of our players alone won that game for us. We shot terrible from three and horrible from the free throw line, and still won the game. That shows that this team can be very good if they put the little things together.

Something else that I haven't seen anybody point out yet is the improvement in Dom's free throw shooting. I don't remember his percentage last year but I think it was somewhere in the 60's. I used to cringe watching him shoot a FT, but this year it looks much smoother and has been much improved. Good to see these players put in the work this offseason.

It's a nice win, for certain. Keep in mind that Minnesota missed something like 16 of their last 18 shots. If they make 9 of 18, we lose. Do you chalk it up to our defense, or bad shooting? One thing is certain, we beat a respectable team. I do think that we need a solid ) plus 12-6 in the BE to have a good shot at the tournament. That must be the goal, and we can't have the kind of slump that sunk us early last year. A win vs. Gonzaga would have a lot of us very very happy.

You can also talk about how many free throws we missed and how we started of 0-9 from 3 point range. So I guess that can even out your if they make 9 of 18 we lose argument. This is why they play the games, we won and moving one.

Good point. We played good defense down the stretch, and missed a lot of free throws. A W is a W.

This is a horse sh*t post, did you even watch the game? Our defense suffocated them. Not only that, we left 48 points on the floor between missed fts and wide open missed threes. We beat the snot out of them last night and should have won by 30.

100 percent correct Marillac, if we didn't waste most of the first half in that zone, we could of won by 40 or more. I think Lavin was trying to shorten the game and protect the team from fouls

Look, coming from you, I can discard your reaction. I watched the game, and if you really think we play a suffocating defense then I guess we can count on shutting down teams in the stretch. One this is certain, a W is a W, and that's the goal of every game. I'm not on the bandwagon, only to jump off at our first collapse. I'll take the positives and move on. I swear some of you should be medicated.

Trust my dog!

ask your dog if I should start or bench matthew stafford tomorrow on my fantasy football team

Start.

I'm not even joking when I say I have been benching stafford on 2 out of 3 of my teams lately and I changed him to start today based on your dogs prediction :)

Stafford is having his best game of the year with 275 yards and 2 touchdowns at halftime !!

If he continues this in the 2nd half I owe you and your dog a beer

As soon as Dakich made the comment, "Harrison has to show emotion" I knew this website would go beserk. And rightly so. Nice comeback by our guys.
Kudos to Sir Dom and not Marillac, the former for his outstanding hustle and control, and the latter for giving up on this young man.
Thought Branch should have had more minutes due to his easy penetration and Greene 's lack of offense in the first half.
Really impressed with Obepka's improvement from the foul line. Would like to see him speed up his dunks, seems always getting fouled or blocked.
All contributed -- Jordan in the first half, Greene with a few needed jumpers and of course our own mister clutch, D'Lo, doing his usual end of game heroics Well done!
Now, let's surprise Gonzaga and the rest of the basketball world.

My favorite Dakich quote of the night when they were discussing that Chris considered going pro after last year, "Well, there are a lot of pro leagues around the world."
