(Miami Invit) Georgia Tech, Sat. Dec. 1, 12 Noon, ESPNU / 570 WMCA
Stupid question, is there some place to find a list of bars in Manhattan that would show the game? Every Big 10 or ACC school has its local place in the City to go to. It annoys me that these out of towners feel at home more than I do when I watch a SJU game at a local bar. Mind you I did attend school in a Big 10 area but it still annoys me.
If it's on ESPNU you can probably ask any bar to play it for you.

Just curious.... Is this weekend considered a tournament similar to the Cal / VCU games? I tried looking it up and couldn't find anything.

Hoophall Miami Invitational.

But it's not played as a tournament. Just 4 games in one day, featuring 8 teams.

Considering that three of the teams are ACC, it would be very difficult to stage a tournament without ramifications.

Caught up with Georgia Tech's Jose Alvarado, local guy from Christ the King: “[St. John’s] recruited me and then they didn’t want me. It’s a business. I didn’t take it personal. I don’t have anything to prove to them. They know how good I am.” #sjubb

Reason being. .............

Perhaps he would have fell into the long list of city kids we recruit for a long time, deal with their handlers, placate their coaches, only to have them not care one iota about staying local.

Finally got a seat. Section 107. I'm going solo. My wife just dug my old St.John's Redmen sweatshirt out of a box of old clothes. It's headed to the washing machine so it will be ready for game time. Hopefully my sneezing fit from trying it on will stop soon.

Hate to say it but who cares why he didn't come here? We have much better guards. Good luck to him.

Would he be our best PG next year though?

Time to punch a big conference team in the mouth and make a statement. Then claim our spot in the top 25.

After six games our guys should be ready to take on a major conference team. This is where lav's teams stumbled but I have a ton of confidence that this is a new era of sju basketball and today will go well.

I flirted with making the trip but would have had to leave immediately after the game to fly to l.a., where I am headed on a flight right now. I hope jetblue has espnu.

Their website says yes to ESPNU.

Key win for us. ACC team on neutral court. Decent team too. Must win for us with easy part of schedule coming up. This is the statement win for us. Need to play smart, unselfish, high % shots, defend the 3, and OFFENSIVE REBOUND! if we do that we will win. Stay hungry boys, get this win!!! Go johnnies!!!!

Not sure I understand Zach’s article. He suggests that we passed on Alvarado bc we signed Simon and didn’t want another small guard. Didn’t Simon transfer the previous year and didn’t Mikey Dixon (another small guard) transfer in the same year as Alvarado was a freshman? Did staff decide they’d rather have Mikey Dixon sit out a year then have an immediately eligible Alvarado? From all indications, the staff knew Mussini was leaving. Strange stuff.

I'm banking on Fuchsia and the rest of the florida based boys, and those of you making the trip to be good luck charms.

Almost a home game, tons of new Yorkers in southern Florida. Be loud, boys. Have fun.
