Now that the baseball season is officially over with Texas win in World Series to close out 2023 season, it is time to start Hot Stove discussions until pitchers and catchers report in 2024. Much needs to be done including signing/not signing/trading Pete long term; getting some starting/relief pitching; signing one or two Japanese guys; which of the kids is ready for Prime Time and who needs more seasoning; finding the right manager.

Today the Mets answered what they are doing for one of the issues--they have crossed the "Mendoza Line". That one was right out of left field but they did something right after Counsell decided to stay buried in Minnesota.

I would love both of those Japanese starters.

Bellinger seems like a very good fit if the price is right.

I would think Stearns trades for a starter as well.

Counsell was the Brewers' manager and he has signed to be the Cubs' manager.

Cub ownership must have given Counsel assurances they would be big spenders this offseason.

I wonder if they approach Sterns with a trade proposal for Alonso.

So we hire a new team president who fires a very good manager in order to name his own man, which was the worst kept secret in baseball. That knowledge got Counsell $8 mm from the Cubs and we get a rookie manager, who hopefully be a better manager than Mario was a hitter.

I think he just wants a puppet in there. The analytics team will likely be setting the lineup and calling the shots in-game. It will be very interesting to see Stearns work this offseason.

When I worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital back when in an IT role, the Spanish support guys called me Davey Yohnson, because I was always on the computer. Johnson, of course was one of the first to use analytics in his managerial decisions. They should have hired him. He's only 9 years older than our guy.

Just don't get it, I know analytics runs things, but haven't so many teams been down that road hiring a completely inexperienced person for the job.

Mets and Cohen release plans for $8B redevelopment.

Sounds awesome. I bet it takes 20 years to happen and now after the Mets lose I can go gamble and lose whatever I have left. Sounds like a plan!

My favorite line in the article " But the fate of Metropolitan Park is still about as secure as a Mets late-inning lead. "

It‘s NYC. We’ll be dead before some revised version of this is ever built. My guess is whatever they finally decide it’ll cost somewhere double or triple the listed price tag. Gotta give Cohen credit for trying.

They'd build the casino in 6 months. The rest will get stuck in politics. Last time I checked parks don't generate casino money...
