Mets seem to have left their bats at Citifield--blame the down turn on equipment manager
JD Martinez fell off a cliff in July. His bat retired before he did.
If Mets lose today and Arizona wins Mets need a sweep tomorrow.
For the negatives about Peterson, he came through BIG time today. One of the best Met's pitching performances of the year but when he left after 7, I was apprehensive to say the least because of the word "Bullpen".
Was Alonso in hibernation today and in this series. All I can see is that he is Lindor who gave it all from the 1st inning on with the steal and subsequent score.
On to Atlanta who have saved Sale.

Is that all? I know this if we ever did win the first game I would love to win the second which would eliminate the Braves. Something tells me I should worry about winning ONE, ANY ONE.

I don’t follow a lot of details closely, such as pitching rotations, etc. But one of my coffee buddies said yesterday that the Mets went out of the rotation order to start Soriano against the Braves.
If so, dumb, dumb move and not just in hindsight. The Mets starters had developed a great chemistry as a unit and I would understand if you were moving up Koufax or Gibson or Seaver, etc.
But Soriano? No knock, but why? You disrupt chemistry, but more importantly, send the message that the “way” we did it to have the best record in baseball for 100 games wasn’t good enough anymore.
Regardless, ancient history, let’s get at least one today!!

I went to the jets game yesterday with some friends and it was easily the worst sports experience I’ve ever had when you take into account the game itself + the weather

Just obnoxiously quoting myself to show how the D-Backs were gonna get screwed right from the beginning of MLB’s ineptitude. I don’t care about rivalries, either team that puts out its best players for game 2 after winning game 1 is just flat out stupid. And, if that team loses to a ragtag lineup and pitchers and gets swept then they obviously don’t deserve the playoffs.Honestly, I’d be pissed if I was a D-Backs fan
Braves have the pitching edge with Schwellenbach or however the hell you say or spell his name. Although, the Mets just saw this guy on Tuesday night. The first inning was a disaster because they swung at everything and the guy threw 7 pitches. Let’s at least make the guy work today. Get some tough ABs early. Time to exorcise our demons. We need one.

Well Schwellenbach just mowed us down in the first inning like it was nothing. Gulp

And tough pitching by Megill to match the 0!!
Just another anemic inning in which the Mets fail to capitalize on a great opportunity via Taylor hustle. Horrible at bat by Bader as he hits on top of a hanging breaking ball pounding it into the ground when a fly ball was what was needed.
And Megill’s hanger gets lost, Braves 2-0………
