Marvin Clark

Marv's frustrating inability to stay out of foul trouble does nothing to detract from the fact that he is a great young man and has been a wonderful representative of the school during his time here.
Wish him the best in life going forward and in the short term wish him the ability to start pulling back his hand when he is tempted to reach in especially once he's already picked up a couple of fouls...

He made a mistake and apologized. Pay penalty and move forward.

The local media will also miss Marvin next year
He was always available for a good quote in St John's articles
Seems like a good kid and a very good representative of our program
I agree that MC is probably frustrated by having to defend bigger & stronger players every night. It is very difficult to body up players that are that much bigger and stronger than you, however, he does manage to get 1-2 ticky tack fouls when reaching 25 feet from the basket.
No excuses. Fouling when bodying up a bigger guy is one thing. But, his penchant for unavoidable fouls when already in foul trouble - like going for blocks, reaching in and jumping in the dribblers path - are just senseless and give you the impression he his oblivious.

“On the bench, Clark kept yapping and was hit with another technical. When all that free-throw shooting was done at 17:00, Providence (15-12, 5-9) led, 43-30.”

““He apologized [after],” Heron said of Clark. “It’s a high-emotion game. He was frustrated. Who wouldn’t be frustrated in a game like that? He picks up his fourth foul and gets a tech right after. Who’s not going to be frustrated on the bench?”
Mullin was more direct.

“I told him he didn’t show up,” Mullin said. “It wasn’t a question. It was a statement.”

At 24 years old, you expect more from him. Hurt the team with his play, his attitude, and his mouth. Start Keita or Roberts. Sit him for first 10 minutes.
the whole team hurt themselves with their play. lets no single out Marvin. They were all terrible
Not being singled out for 1 game...this is a season long habit thatvkills a team with no depth

Clark had nothing to do with our suckage against Providence. None of this is his fault imo. Yeah his techs were inadvisable, but we were out of the game even before it was 9-0...

Overall, I appreciate the way Marvin Clark has carried himself. I keep reading that he has a relentless work ethic and a big heart. I remember last year, in the doldrums of our 11-game losing streak, he (unsolicited) posted on Instagram that he loved his teammates and coaches. It would have been much easier to question, sulk or point a finger.

I am pretty sure even Marvin would admit that Wednesday night was not his finest hour. That said, the good far outweighs the bad. I am a Marvin Clark fan.

I think most of us agree that the Players on this Year’s Team are fine Representatives of the BB Program and School . Not a issue there ... But, Marvin has consistently been in foul trouble all season , even if he doesn’t foul out. It’s a chronic flaw in his game and it hasn’t been corrected . Many, many of his fouls are unnecessary . Ticky Tacky ones , like reaching in .. Announcers have been all over those errors , since they often have no effect on the opponents play . As for him Banging against bigger and stronger players , in Mullin’s defensive schemes , Marvin is out at the top of the key , covering a point guard , while Ponds or Simon is guarding Govan underneath .. So , the senseless fouls aren’t a result of being pummeled inside . Marvin hasn’t gotten the word that his Defense is far less importance to the Team than his scoring . And , when he fouls out, we lose that ability to draw the opponents big guys out of their comfort zone ., and Marvin hasn’t cranked it up from long range in a quite a while .. the little rebounding this team does is more of a Team effort with Heron, Simon , Figgy, Ponds and Trimble doing most of what we get . Clark has been too much of a non factor in too many games , as a result of his fouls . It is what it is ..

Sly, Clark is second on the team in rebounding to Figgy and is averaging one more rebound per game than last year so it's not like he doesn't rebound at all. Main problem he has had is fouls and occasional cold shooting games, particularly at MSG. Hoping he can reverse both of those on Saturday.

Make no mistake , everyone likes Marvin Clark but, he hasn’t contributed to the extent counted on this year ... I don’t want to argue on Rebnounding stats , which we know can be misleading . We are not a good rebounding team as a Group , especially on the offensive glass . But, the harsh reality is Marvin has been on the Bench way too much due to the fouls . And , it’s a big drop off in points scored that we need from him every game , than what Trimble or Keita can deliver . Dissect it anyway you want but, Marvin’s Play has been sub par for much of the BE season ., justify it , if you want but , he’s not a Plus right now and hasn’t been . Sorry , it’s the way I see it .

If he fouls out tomorrow maybe he can come up to 114 to join your post game picture

Marvin does make some silly fouls, but his fouls the other night had little to do with the games outcome.
The truth is, as fans we tend to dissect everything about a game sometimes magnifying things. A fan says something and
another has to add to it.

The simple truth the other night we played like crap, Marvin did not help, but I think
He is a straw man on this one.

What's Mullin supposed to say to them? Do as I say, not as I do?
No he's supposed to say "Won't you be happier when ratface and the whining hamster up in Syracuse retire and the overall tone of coaches becomes more respectful of how hard your job is?

The OP was talking about someone getting the players to chill out.

And yes, there are many coaches who ride the refs hard, most have earned it.

Senior night in front of family and a near sellout MSG. What a day for him and would be even sweeter with a huge win
