Marquette, Wed. Feb. 1, 7pm, FS2/570AM

Amazing how Owens can impact a game not score. Had 3 blocks & 11 rebounds. Finally we had a rebounding edge albeit by one.

Agree. Thought he played very well despite not scoring.

He gave us exactly what we needed tonight,

Much better ball movement, aided by Marquette not playing much defense. Team played well except for that 2 minute stretch when they lost their minds with a 17 point lead and the ball. How could a team coached by a guy that played so smart play so dumb with the lead? Have to chalk it up to inexperience and exuberance. But you have to play based on the situation, and the situation demanded patience. At least they understood what to do after Mullin called timeout. Ponds: 7 rebounds, 4 or 5 assists, and only one turnover. Only 1 for 5 from 3, but 2 were late in the shot clock, and on one of those showed great awareness to even get the shot off and have it hit the rim, which resulted in a Bashir rebound and bucket.

Feel like we played with two big men on the floor more often tonight.

Here's a new one: Tennis great John McEnroe comes out of his first row seat and stands in the St. John's huddle before the 2nd half. #sjubb

I look forward to reading the recaps and catching it on the DVR.

I had plans to go but had a family emergency so I gave the tickets to a friend at work who was going to go with me and headed to the hospital (my father is being admitted with dehydration and due to his age they want to keep an eye on him)

His "room" in the ER has a TV but it doe not get FS2. Anyhow big win.

I would so love to see Marcus play on a winning team for us. He would be even more electrifying than he already is.

That was fun to watch. Team really competed tonight. They need to play scrappy every game. If you bring that effort I can live with some bad shot selection.

Tonight's game was a preview of what this team could look like when they are competitive in the paint. Was a good matchup for us but still had to go out and play well and the boys did that tonight.

My Mom was admitted last night which is why I didn't go. Best wishes to your Dad.

Got to watch dehydration in older people, and low potassium levels. Went through that a lot with my dad. Hope everything turns out OK.

This is the rotation we should be playing barring injury or foul issues
Shorten the bench - 8 men total - only Owens, Williams and Mussini off the bench
RF and Ali should only play under "emergency" circumstances

PS: Hope your parents are better soon, SJU85 and Monte

Lovett played a good second half but he needs to control the tempo better with wiser decision making. Great games by Yakwe and Bashir to make the win possible and once Owens get better incorporated into the offensive sets as Yakwe was tonight we will be competitive in most games. Unfortunately, in most games this year one or two guys underachieved. I see one more possible win in the next 5 games and that is a vast improvement from last year.
Mullin appears very confident coaching now and tonight he got support from John McEnroe to design a "set" play. ;)

Crisp passing from Yakwe - from the post - to find people on the outside.
