Nice win, and games like this continue to make me optimistic about next season and the direction of the program. (Mullin St Jean Mitch etc may know what they're doing)

Marquette tried to give us the game though the way they didn't value the ball.
 
They might not be ranked but that was a great win over a team that just last week had knocked off #7 Creighton (in Omaha) and #1 Nova. Our starting five put in a tremendous shift and we out-rebounded, out-shot, out-assisted, out-stole, out-blocked and out-hustled Marquette. Keep this level of play up and we have a shot at 8 BE wins. That is a long way and a terrific improvement from 1-17.

To me the key to tonight was both Bashir and Kassoum reading this board with Paultzman saying it is looking good with Walker and Monte saying he could play 20 minutes a game next season. They both got frightened to death of Walkers imminent commitment and had great games as they are fearful as upperclassmen to loose pt to a freshman.
Great win by the team and on to the next, game by game. Congrats to the team, coaching staff and suffering fans. Hope we had some recruits at the game.
 
Very nice win. Ponds is such a talent, but best part for me was seeing Yakwe rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. Hope the kid can keep it up, he has the raw talent.

Best 40 minutes of team basketball all season! 4 players in double figures , 17 assists , even on the boards. Team played with great intensity both sides of the floor. "Trust the process"
 
This was a fun game to be at. First half was driving us nuts but this was a nice win. Bashir gets knocked on the boards and he does make some glaring mistakes ( not really that much more than anyone else IMO ) but I honestly think next year he is going to have a huge year for us especially once he gets his down low game under control a little bit

The beginning of the season sucked beyond belief but if we can pull out another 2 victories to me that's going to negate the 1st half season debacle. Either way there is some progress being made. Our defense was horrible early and needs a ton of improvement but if they can tighten that up then there is real reason for optimism for next year if team stays intact
 
I look forward to reading the recaps and catching it on the DVR.

I had plans to go but had a family emergency so I gave the tickets to a friend at work who was going to go with me and headed to the hospital (my father is being admitted with dehydration and due to his age they want to keep an eye on him)

His "room" in the ER has a TV but it doe not get FS2. Anyhow big win.

I think, at times, it takes years to really appreciate them. My mom 91 and know I'm fortunate to still have her.

I had my Dad till he passed away at 88 a few years ago, Healthy up until last few months. My Mom is 84 and in pretty good health. I count my blessing every day. God bless your Mom.

The greatest privilege I had was helping care for my dad, who lived until his mid 90s and was a proud SJU alum and Redmen fan until the very end, and now my mom, who is approaching 95. Best wishes for your mom. The good news is that 84 is the new 74. And as I tell my mom, 94 is the new 84.

Really enjoyable game to watch. One thing people have to really let sink in is that the Big East is a very good conference and that every game is tough. Marquette has out of conference wins against bubble teams Michigan and Georgia in addition to the wins over Villanova and Creighton. This is our second win over a likely NCAA tournament team and don't be shocked if Syracuse sneaks their way in as well. They won again tonight.

that's the number 1 thing for next year because other than today the defense isn't any better than last year in my opinion

There needs to be major improvement in order to take the big leap
 
Just got back from the game. Great night. Not a huge crowd but we made a lot of noise because the players gave us a reason to.

You see how much easier it is to win when you get a little bit of contribution on offense from a big man. Good for Kassoum.
 
These guys really don't have a bad loss....yet.

Correct. Unfortunately something has gotten into GT lately, but I think we beat Providence again, get some revenge on the Hoyas, and then we need either Marquette or the Hall. Hopefully we get Marquette out of the way tomorrow, that would make the road to 7 a lot easier.

And we're 1 for 1 in those games. Would love to go to Nova and get a W there Saturday night.
 
Did my usual - record the game, avoid the intrawebs and watch the game when I got home from work.....so happy for Yakwe....our backcourt is amazing and we stopped several Marquette runs which may not have happened earlier in the year....

One other thing I liked - the new SJU promotional ad they show during the games....better quality and message.....
