Defense was the reason they lost this game. Too much ball following and losing guys. Just stay home and guard up 1 on 1 no need to double so much. You could see who was going to end up scoring for Marquette a few passes before it happened at times. This should be a team that wins ugly and limits possessions/turnovers while controlling the glass. Need to figure out the guys who are going to do those things and give them minutes.

it's not Curbelo, but a building block.
oh boy…must be Pinzon.

EDIT: Actually, if true, may be King. . .he looked totally disgusted last night as everyone else joined the party but him

1 more item - Kolek is fun to watch (put aside being an opposing fan) - the dude knows how to play the Point. His ability to find the correct* player with a pin point no-look pass allows the receiver the extra time needed to either get off an uncontested shot or leave the defense scrambling.
Very good “pass first“ PG for which we did not plan properly. He is a poor shooter and routinely passes up open jumpers. Leave him open on perimeter and pay attention Jones. Scouting is either not done or ignored. Ditto for Igoudala. Let him shoot, doesn’t want to.

Had a good game
He stinks though so um yes please
He doesnt stink. He is a good player who shouldn’t be a top 7 player. Very good 7th man on a good team. on our team, he feels the need (as others do) to make something happen

another very tough game against a team playing with a great deal of confidence , especially after beating Nova the other night at Nova, no easy feat. We on the other hand are in a downward spiral following the loss to the Hall and if there was ever a time to right the ship and try to save the season this is it.
Not an easy team to defend as they have a multitude of players who are all playing well. No superstars but a well coached group that is over achieving to date. One of the big overachievers is Olivier Maxence Prosper, Omax as he is called back home , who has become the complete package under Coach Smart. Something many of us who watched him over the years were never sure would happen, but Coach Smart deserves a ton of credit here. Omax comes from a great family and both of his parents played university basketball at Concordia University in Montreal , with his mom Playing on the National team. In the summer of 2019 when he played with my son I asked his dad about university and he responded immediately UNC or Duke. Omax ended up going to Clemson but transferred after his freshman season. I did not push SJU after that. He finished his high school with Ben Mathurin at the NBA academy in Mexico City.

As CMA often says we got punched in the mouth , well now we have to pick ourselves up off the canvas and punch back hard and draw first blood tomorrow night. Let’s go Redmen.
I feel horrible but have been a fan since the mid seventies. Played at Alumni Hall at halftime of a game. Seen it all - from George Johnson and Beaver Smith to Billy Goodwin/Kevin Williams to Mullin/Berry/Jackson to Felipe/Artest and Bootsy/Barkley but I am about to jump ship. I can’t take it anymore. We need Pitino……..in the worst way.

St. John's lost to Marquette, dropping to 1-4 in the Big East, extending their losing streak to four. Defense has been non existent and dire times are here in Queens.

Frustration has hit all time highs as a once promising season has gone off the rails.

It's hard not to notice Storr looks unhappy and perhaps has one foot out the door. That said, I can't pin this all on Anderson. Yes, it's nearly impossible to logically explain his substitution patterns and Storr should definitely be playing more. However, his defense is undeniably poor and he has not demonstrated any signs of growth.

Surprisingly, right now, our defense is even more detrimental than our lack of shooting.

I tried to warn everybody to temper expectations on Storr before the season. Players in his ranking range just aren’t major contributors in their freshman season. The same thing would happen to Gardner next year if he actually does step foot on campus.

Storr potentially leaving is a non-issue to me right now. Not because I don’t think he’ll be a good player, I actually do think he’ll develop into a very good 4 year player at the high conference level. But because you can’t expect players in this day and age to stay at all but especially when there’s a coaching change like there likely will be after this season. And if there isn’t a coaching change after the season then next year is a lost cause anyway whether Storr is here or not.
