@Marquette, Sat., Feb. 10, 6p, FS-1

Marquette came into the game ranked no. 7. We are not in the conversation.
Yeah well we were up on #7 in both games by double digits only to blow both game.

I'm not trying to hear that none sense, unless your saying you think they were just toying with us to make things interesting before playing serious.

Competing is one thing, closing another. They just have failed to do so enough times to recognize there is a problem. Rick strongly feels it is the on and off commitment to defending. Who can argue w that?

The theme of St. John’s season has been almost wins. Poor defense leading to second half collapses. It happened again for a second time against Marquette. We recap another disappointing loss as time and opportunities are running low

Exactly what it is…competition like this is like a tug of war, adjust your grip at the wrong moment and you’re being pulled across the line…the good teams recognize it…the defensIve pressure they applied in the 2nd half (and what UCONN routinely applies) is table stakes for the really good teams…unfortunately, our guys treat it as going the extra yard (when we’re up to it)

I see where fans criticized Roberts, Lavin, Mullin, and Anderson. I wondered how long till Pitino was crapped on. This long I suppose.

Beast, when you're a CEO and company stock takes heat you get criticized, same thing if you're President & economy is bad; no reason a sports coach, legendary or not, should be immune. It goes with the territory. Ninety percent of posters are happy Rick is coach, doesn't mean he is or should be immune from criticism.

Another thing to ponder that’s a head scratcher…… it’s now February….. Dunlap starts against UConn and does not get on the court against Marquette? And no one sees anything wrong with this? Coach does not have his team figured out by now?????? I’m not justifying whether he should play or not but there seems to be no line up consistency at this critical time of year.
Match ups ! Silly

The new coach basically firing the whole team was the mistake.
Again and again we go through this conversation! Letting the team go had nothing to do with their basketball abilities it was about the character of some of the players and the way they acted last season. It seems like it was an unhealthy environment on the team last year. CRP asked some to stay, 2 stayed others decided to get a fresh start; others were not wanted. It was not just about Pitino wanting to start with his team. Some of you have to let that go.

What does that have to do with anything. There are many teams like The Hall, Butler, Xavier etc. who are not better than the Johnnies who have beaten top 10 teams. This is the Nig East, decent teams win at home.

Even Mullin who aside from Norm Roberts many perceive as the worst coach in Johnny history beat some top 10 teams during his tenure.
