If you argue the team does not have the talent or has mid major talent as some would say, then why were Dingle, Ledlum, Luis, Taylor sought after but many other major power 5 programs? Why was Soriano pre season first team BE? Why was Wilcher a highly rated 4 star recruit and Dunlap as well? Did Allyne contribute to to National Championship team? Etc etc etc.

And after all the above if you still argue that the team has little talent, who out the talent in the floor? I get it, coach had to assemble a team fast etc. wanted to change the culture, couldn’t get Storr etc. But then I ask myself, what did recruit Yaxel L have to do with any of that? Was the culture bad across the board with all players? Obviously not if Drissa and Joel were retained.

I also don’t believe that the kids are not trying hard enough but they may just lack the quickness to play the style that coach wants them to play. Is that their fault? I’m sure there are many teams that don’t possess lighting speed or lateral quickness and that’s where a coaching staff comes in to develop a system that will accommodate their strengths and weaknesses.

I as well as others have been pretty hard on these kids to date, but why are so many of them seemingly not living up to our expectations? While it’s great on paper and for PR reasons to have a HOF coach and odds are the ship will be righted, but perhaps the issues here at this point in time are not all with the players.

Why cant Joel run down the court instead of trotting? Why does Luis play matador defense? Why does Dingle miss so many shots?Why does Dunlaps shot have no arc? Why does Wilcher make such carelss passes?All those are due to a lack of effort! Period!
 
Yes, of course we faltered down the stretch of the game . But , the game turned at the end with the missed layups by Ledlum and Alleyne .
We were still in the game at that point .

After that was where the total collapse came and the game was over . The final margin of 11 wasn’t a reflection of the game in total .
Most of the time in the 2nd half we were in the lead or playing them even .

Yes , their 2nd half run resulted in 48 points but , that was more attributable to the 13-2 run in the last few minutes .

Kolek was Superman yesterday , as has been for most of his BE career . Is there a better Guard in the BE ? Doubtful .

Getting 8 points from Soriano and Dingle combined was dreadful . Sure , RP and those of us fans can rail about lack of defense but , how can you win with 2 Starters scoring 8 points ?
You can’t .

I was hoping Dingle would have had a good game , maybe scoring 18 points or so . Didn’t happen . The team could live with his defensive inability but , he’s got to score and he hasn’t delivered much this year .

Who knows what the problem is with Soriano ? He didn’t see the ball a lot in the 1st half and maybe he gets a attitude ?
He could have drifted out to the foul line and shot a few of those 8-10 footers he likes . It could have drawn igodaro out too.

It was Kolek who did the job . There aren’t a lot of players or teams that can handle him . He’s got a lot of game . Being a lefty helps a lot .

Plus , he’s a heady player and has a lot of tricky moves .

He’s probably going to be the POY again in the BE.

As for the heat directed at RP , it’s a little premature . Sure, a lot more was expected from the Ledlum - Dingle combo but , it hasn’t. Ledlum does contribute by rebounding and playing hard all the time . He’s not a scorer but , gets his points , 10 a game .

Dingle , has essentially been the most disappointing . Scoring consistently in double figures was expected . All of us fans and the Coaching staff didn’t do the job in determining whether he could handle the BE.
Yes , Pitino and crew weren’t alone in that as other teams thought he could flourish in the BE or elsewhere. All those have been proven wrong .


Throw in the most Crucial loss in assembling this team was not getting Clayton jr . Who is having a great year at Florida . He was the perfect compliment to Jenkins as a Guard and as a duo would have given us a lot more ammunition to fire .

That’s pretty much the story yesterday and fior the season .

Can we still make the Tourney ? Of course , there is still a mathematical chance . Winning against PC and Butler on the road would help or ,getting at least 1 win there . Then beating both, Seton Hall and Creighton at home are must haves. Sweeping G’Town and DePaul too .

Then, win a game in the BET. Against somebody besides the Hoyas or Blue Demons .

It has nothing to do with our fandom.
None of those teams will sniff a Final 4 . It’s reality .

So , no reunion for our former players is in the offing .,

Just slightly a over estimation in my opinion . Wisconsin , with Storr has lost 5 in a row . They look more like our team than a Final 4 team .
Memphis ? No way . They rely on Jones way too much .
Of course ,,like when he was here , never met a shot he didn’t like . He shoots 24 times a game and has done that .
That’s not a winning formula in Tourny games .

The NCAA tournament all depends on what bracket you’re in and what match ups you have. One or two high seeds falter in a bracket and it’s wide open also.

And who is responsible for the enforcement of effort? Dingle misses shots cause he’s not that great a shooter and not used to this level of athlete who is defending him. Dunlap is about as coach able a kid as you can get, if his shot is flat, as is Sorianos foul shot, who’s working on their shooting technique? And what do careless passing have to do with lack of effort?
 
Sad to say but once again our aggressive and productive first half is halted by half time. Why?? Fatigue? Mental? Maybe we should stay on court and scrimmage ourselves. It seems a break to regroup is our worst foe. Lots can still happen this year but our current trend says "not likely" not looking forward to road game at Providence. This league is a frigging beast. And my kool-aid once again tastes as though it was mixed with salt vs sugar.
