Marquette Game

Have my regular Wednesday night game so missed 1st half. Other than the 4 fouls, did Amar do anything else?

He grabbed every rebound while he was in there. One foul was a phantom call on a rebound he grabbed. The refs just whistle him for everything

I am going to be a somewhat of a hypocrite and agree with you. I thought his 3rd and 4th fouls were nonsense, the rebound you talked about and the quick whistle offensive with minimal contact and a little acting. I like AA; he knows the game and doesn't mind mixing it; not saying he's a program changer but he can contribute. He has taken a couple of 3's in rythym so I assume he can make some, need to keep getting him minutes and let him get a little comfortable. Now, just so I can get my knock on Lavin in, I'm not sure he is worth a European vacation to get but..........

Jordan MVP.
it was nice to see Jorden have a nice game. But Dom is MVP today. He did everything including playing great D ,which his lofty stats don't show.

Yes he was, no doubt. And I thought Jordan played maybe his best game as a Johnnie.

Ill take the win.

Cant put pointer on carlino earlier, he was too valuable elsewhere. And there was no problem with Carlino in the first half, but good adjustment by Lavin after the 4 threes.

Great spark by branch in second half. Jordan played great for most of the game, still had a few head-scratching decisions.

Sir Dom was incredible defensively all game and for a large portion of the game offensively, the whole team needs to eliminate these long scoring droughts where there is no movement and they launch jumpers.

They need to learn that they don't need to settle for jumpers early on the shot clock, especially on the first half of games

They are going to need to shoot lights out o have a chance on Sunday

I think the switch on Carlino needed to happen sooner; D'Lo was clearly hobbled.

D'Lo aside, we actually shot the ball very well tonight. But virtually no points off the bench as usual...

Didn't see a box score but how many blocks did we get ?

Gotta be double digits

Beating Duke would be huge and is doable in our building. It's our Garden, but to do it D'Lo must be at full strength. He needs to rest that leg. Good win today. Doesn't matter how it happens. This is a pretty good SJU team when we want to be. We aren't remotely out of anything. We have 4 losses and the first place team has 2. Much less room for error now.

From what I saw, we looked pretty good!

Of course, I just got home from work and saw the last 45 seconds...

Lucky you! It was one of those games where, for three or four 5-minute spans, I actually switched channels because I couldn't bear watching us play so poorly. And again, lucky you: your nervous system was spared a lot of stress and frustration.

Ill take the win.

You're right. 19-42 without Harrison is more than acceptable

Regardless of the outcome of the Duke game, we need to go 8-4 to match our 10-8 BE record of last year. We absolutely need to finish in the top six of the conference for any shot at the NCAA. We are 8th now.

An absolutely outstanding performance by Sir Dom, defense, offense, rebounding and blocks. Jordan made some real nice passes and assists. Sure he throws the ball away sometimes but he takes the chances which any good point guard will do. Playing under control as far as I am concerned.
Obekpa better not switch off Okafor on Sunday, has to stick to him like glue.

Pointer is the hero..
Here's one clap for Obekpa. He got that position underneath when it was 56 to 55 with about 35 or 40 seconds left that led to the over the top foul on Marquette. That meant they had to intentionally foul us several times instead of getting a shot at going ahead. Without that offensive rebound by Obekpa...who knows.
This time our seniors made yhe plays late at both ends to win.
Experience does help

Any win is a good win! Too much parity in this league. Everybody is going to cannalbolize each other! A 9-9 record is going to be very respectable, and should get you a bid to the dance! Let's hope!

ebbs and flows of this board are quite fun, me being one of the main offenders.
no hope is happy even though SJU didn't cover.
poor albano and otis.

We have to play a lot better then we did tonight.

And another clap for Harrison's clutch foul shots, especially after his dismal shooting all night.

I thought Greene made some good plays, Jordan was good, Dom better. Scratched my head when Lavin burned BOTH of his remaining time outs after we went up 3 but hey we won. On to Duke.

Sometime the other team is hot.
Sometime the refs make the difference.
Sometimes you just meet a significantly better team. However,
I think the ebb and flow of board frustration the last two games is that we really are better by a lot than either DePaul or Marquette when we just play decently, not even well. But when the emerging disaster is self-imposed I for one just go nuts with exasperation.

Ill take the win.

I don't know what game you were watching. We shot 37.7% from the field and 27.3% from three point range. The only problem switching Dom to Carlino earlier resulted in Harrison guarding Taylor who scored 13 points.
