Marquette Game

With the Xavier loss, Providence clinches the 3 seed, and xavier is locked in at the 4. Marquette/SJU are playing for the 5th seed Saturday. If St. John's wins, they are the five seed, with a loss, they are the six and maybe even the seven if Georgetown gets an unlikely win @ Nova.

I do not want to play Xavier first round...

Xavier is limping right now.

I'd love to get another crack at them.

If Stainbrook is still out I agree, but they said he is day to day after this Nova game. Even if he comes back, he won't be 100%.

Anyways, Nova is coming awfully close to choking big time

Jack, I don't think this is right. If PC loses and we win this weekend, we're in a 3 way tie with Xavier and PC. The tiebreaker looks at how each of the three teams played against the other two opponents and compares the cumulative records of those games against each other. Xavier split with PC and beat us twice for a 3-1 record, PC split with us and Xavier for a 2-2 record and we went 1-4. X gets the 3rd seed in that scenario, PC 4th and us 5th.

I agree. Xavier is playing with fire. They went from a certain at large bid to being a bubble team that may have to win a Big East Tournament game.

I only saw bits and pieces of the game last night, did they give an update on Stainbrook?

My feeling is Marquette may have been overrated as they don't look as good as the early preseason experts had them. Never the less they will be
a tough out Saturday. However this does not matter, if St John's is an NCAA team they win tomorrow, no questions asked. Lose and forget the run in
the Big East, I don't think it will happen..

My only worries in this game are Mayo getting hot and the senior day factor. Davante has been a nice player for Them. Typically I don't bet against teams on senior night but...ah what the hell I'll take us with the money line

With their loss to Providence and poor performance this year I don't expect the atmosphere to be overwhelming. If we play anywhere near the level of basketball we played at Villanova we win going away.

My concern is more about us than Marquette. I think the air is out of the balloon. I did not think we played well against Nova, and that the game was close because neither team shot or played particularly well. We were flat against Xavier, and played a close game against DePaul in our own building. If they are to make noise in the BET and have a shot at an at large bid, it is critical that they right the ship and play a solid game. Jordan has had a really rough couple of weeks personally - sometimes being on the court is easier than off. Let's hope they come out strong.

I agree that Marquette was overrated at the beginning of the season and they are not a good offensive team....don't shoot very well but gardner inside is a big presence...and their loss to providence has to suck the air out of them... .unless for some senior day reason they accidently shoot lights out today, especially from 3...I see us winning by 10 plus....play strong defense and don't allow them to get into a flow.....I think rysheed plays very well today and controls the game for us.....for me......we play like we did during our nice streak and enjoy a more relaxed win today.........go redmen!!

6 point dogs?
Too much?

2 or 3 point dog.

line would open with us getting 1-2.....today....depends on what happens marq vs prov.....

Thinking 3 point dog since Georgetown was 4 point dog to Marquette, also have to factor in Senior Day for them, Marquette could be as high as 4 1/2 point faves and a minimum of 1 point faves depending on Providence game.

3 point dogs as I thought, maybe I should quit my day job. Three guys worry me in this game, Gardner is a beast down low who can get our bigs in foul trouble and always hits his free throws. I worry about Jake Thomas getting hot from 3 on Senior Day, SJU has a habit of letting 3 point shooters get open looks and Mayo playing like he did in the second half of the Providence game. He is a talented but streaky player. Stop 2 of those 3 and we have a great chance to win.

hoping to squeak in to the NCAA by scraping by today is fine but if we hope to do anything in the BET or the NCAA's we need a statement victory today to get us on a roll as we were prior to the Villanova game. C'mon guys, let's put it all together today and show everybody what we are capable of.
