And Marquette got blown out by Nova, they’re at home, and are looking for revenge, big, big game for us.

I haven't completely analyzed this but I assume we want the following:
PC to finish 9-9 - Lose to Marquette and Creighton
Marquette to finish 10-8 - Beat Providence and lose to us.
At 10-8 we win the tiebreaker for 4th with Marquette ( We would lose the tie breaker with Providence because they beat Xavier?). Although 4th and 5th play in the same game I think finishing in 4th will look better on the resume. In this scenario, we would have to Marquette for a third time, but I think that is our best matchup anyway.

If you look at this link we would have a 43 rpi if we finished 22-12. I would find it very hard to believe we wouldn't get in with that. That would be beating Marquette and winning 2 games in BET.

This is what I have felt, that we need to win the BE tournament. I suppose there is always the prayer that if we beat Marquette and get to the finals with 22 wins it could sneak us in but we have so many losses against weak opponents and few if any resume building wins. It is very frustrating because I think IF this team got to the NCAA then anything could happen, I think they can beat anyone.
I really think if we beat Marquette and win 1 in big east we are in. A 21 win big east team not getting in is rare. I know it's new big east, but I'd take my chances.
That said I would love to get to 22 just to be a lock. And i want Xavier bad in big east tourney! I feel we would put it to 'em

2 wins in the next 2 games would make 21.
Problem is Marquette is ranked 70 on the RPI.

I doubt the conference will get more than three teams in. Villanova and Creighton are obviously locks. Xavier is a bubble team. Even if we beat Marquette, we'd have to win the BET to have a chance to be number four. Either that, or we have to pray Xavier goes in the tank.
Just playing the odds, I think the Big East is going to get at least a 4th team in. Lunardi currently has 4 BE teams in his first 12 out; with all that is bound to happen over the next 2 weeks, PC, SJU, and Marquette in particular would all have to fail to step up in order for the conference to get held to 3. The opportunity is going to be ample for all 3, especially with the bubble as soft as it is this year.
Certainly possible that all 3 flop, but I think at least 1 will take care of business enough to get in the field.
