Mark Jackson

O Bobre, Bobre, wherefore art thou Bobre?

What is in a Mark Jackson? That which we call a coach by any other name would run a team.

Ok, so it was lame and I forced it.

Is that the best you can do? Golden State's talent is far from a mediocre. If it was, Jackson would not be on the hot seat.
OK so he only won 51 games with a mediocre team. Wonder what Lavin would have done at GS.

I just never understood the hostility toward one of our own from supposed SJU fans on this site. He has had a great career by any measure and I really don't care whether you agree or not. Knocking one of our all time greats is just plain stupid IMO.

Was a huge Knick fan back then. I loved the style of play they had under Holzman. Phil Jackson was a decent contributor. I was just having some fun at his expense. Obvious HOFer but certainly not as a player. Mark Action Jackson is a native son and had a better NBA career than Phil Action Jackson, that's all. Mark's coaching career is still in its infancy, let's give it some time

It's not hostile to say a guy is punching above his weight. I've been a loyal Knick fan my entire life and hiring him would be the last straw. Do you understand the significance of that? We are talking about Dolan's Knicks here.

Misread your post. my bad.....Jackson (Mark) was a better player than Phil, no question, but Phil was damn good within his role. Like I said, total misread on my part.

Yes, because you've never knocked anyone affiliated with STJ. LOL

But the Final Four team should be off limits.

So Jackson's coaching should not be called into question because he got minutes on our last Final Four team?

The key word here is "anyone." Mark has accomplished more in basketball than any Redman other than Mullin. For a guy who was limited in athletic ability he is the top achiever we've ever produced. To knock him is ridiculous for a fan of the program.

Not fighting over Mark's accomplishments but coaching and play combined you probably have to put two McGuires and Kevin Loughery in to the discussion.

If Lavin does not produce next season and Jackson is available. He should be our next coach.

Jackson will be available by Thursday evening, but no thanks anyway.

I'm with LJSA on this one. One of the great Redmen, but that doesn't mean he should be the coach.

And why not? Probably rather stay with the big leagues plus he'll get another NBA job if he gets fired. I'll take him over Lavin anyday.

There have been a few posters critical of Jackson's coaching ability yet every talking head on ESPN and TNT I have heard has unanimously praised his coaching ability and think it would be a joke if he was fired. The only thing I can surmise is those critical of Jackson probably think Lavin is a cross between john Wooden and Arnold "Red" Auerbach.

I would agree. I'd take him over Lavin in heartbeat, but that's not saying much.
Jackson has never recruited before, and to me, that's too big a part of the college game to hire someone without any experience. It's not just about being a big name, you need to know the AAU coaches and the tournament directors. Could Jackson learn? Probably.
But I'd rather hire someone who has shown they can coach and recruit, even if its at a lower level or as an assistant. But I don't want someone who can only check off one of the two boxes. Coach. Recruit.

That said, I would take an average HS coach over Lavin. So would I rather have MJ? Of course.
But if we're going to hire a new coach, let's do a real search.

That's because he's got a lot of friends at the networks. If it weren't for Draymond Green that Warriors team would've lost every game by 40. Jackson is not a good coach at all lower 20% in the league. In fairness, there's Popovich/Rivers/Thibs/Spoelstra and then there's everyone else. Easy to spot which guys aren't up to scruff.

Not trying to be a dbag.. just curious your opinion.. who do you think the better recruiter is, Lavin or Antigua?

Jackson is a phony reverend and a cheating fornicator. The only former player worthy of the job would be Chris Mullin.

I'm talking in double figures worth of commentators, somebody has to have an ounce of credibility. These guys are NBA insiders who spend their days talking to players, coaches and GMs. They say his players love to play for him and would run through a wall for him. Also give technical analysis of calling plays out of time outs, etc. They played without their center and back up center against a team with a frontline which included D'Andre Jordan and Blake Griffin, not to mention one of the best PGs in Chris Paul and played them to the wire in a 7 game series and he deserves to be fired? Draymond Green isn't exactly Karl Malone and maybe Jackson deserves some credit for how well he played. He wasn't exactly a high draft pick who cme into the league expected to kill.
