Mark Jackson

It seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Steve Kerr would be the next coach of the Knicks
Now, I'm hearing that he might not want to leave his home on the West Coast
Rumor also has it that Mark Jackson may get fired at Golden State
How cool would it be for Kerr to get the G.S. job and Jackson the Knicks head coaching gig?
I would motivate me to want to watch the Knicks again

Ditto!!!

Sorry but NOOOO. God this would be a mistake. I'm sick of the Knicks hiring clueless coaches. Anyone who pays attention to the NBA knows there is a reason why Jackson is on the verge of getting fired. Any coach worth his salt knows how to position his guys to win late in games. Jackson has proven to be inept in that department. Nice guy, great commentator, horrible horrible coach. I really would abandon the Knicks if they made this hire.

People credit him with improving the Warriors each of his first three seasons but let's be real: Curry went from a walking ankle injury to a full-season stud. They upgraded Mont'e Ellis with Klay Thompson. Upgraded Dorrell Wright to Andre Iguodala. Upgranded Biedrins to Andrew Bogut. The guy is a bad coach and frankly a little too confrontational for my liking. Fired Brian Scalabrine probably because he's a ginger.

Clippers sure opened a can of you-know-what on GS last night: 138-98 final. I know Action was not great on D; Warriors must not practice it either.

O Bobre, Bobre, wherefore art thou Bobre?

What is in a Mark Jackson? That which we call a coach by any other name would run a team.

Ok, so it was lame and I forced it.

I would be shocked beyond belief if Jackson hired Jackson; IMO zero chance of that happening.

What? You don't think a Buddhist and an Evangelical can work together? That's awfully closed minded. ;)

OK so he only won 51 games with a mediocre team. Wonder what Lavin would have done at GS.

I'm hearing the rift between Golden State and Jackson is the GM wanted to go hard after Vernon Teel and Jackson didnt want him and now the GM thinks they would have been a 1 seed if they would have signed him

You pulled that one from the archives MJ :cheer:

Jackson and Jackson: A nice name for a law firm in Jackson Heights, NY but as a President and coach: No Fit!!!

Both Knicks, yes, however years apart.

Actually our Jackson was a bigger contributor than the North Dakota (State?) or was it South Dakota (State?) Jackson.

Weren’t they both Knick(named) "Action Jackson".

Phil’s only claim to fame as a player was harassing the baseline in-bound pass.

Mark’s Knick claim to fame was being Patrick Ewing’s bag-carrier/assist man and using a “broom” for a sweep of an opposing team, (not too classy.) Not a great claim to fame.

Mark--high on the list for all-time assists.

Phil--high on the list for having a set of shoulders that exactly replicated a very large wooden hanger.

Watching Phil gawkily amble down the court, and just missing the opportunity to block Wes Unseld’s shot: $50.00

Watching Mark back down a taller, but much less broad defender, backing his butt into the guy, keep backing, keep backing, then the teardrop: $150.00.

Mark Jackson coaching a Phil Jackson-Knicks team: PRICELESS.

Look at the roster. That's not the mediocre part.

They win 51 games in the much tougher western conference and Mark Jackson is a horrible coach?

If I told you about a coach who won 50, 50, 45, 66, and 61 games over the first five years of his coaching career, you'd say he was a very good/great coach. But you'd be horribly wrong when it's revealed that Mike Brown is the coach. Sometimes numbers don't tell nearly the whole story.

Very good point. I watch a lot of NBA and Jackson is regarded as a poor coach. The results are there for now but eventually the wheels fall off for guys who can't hack it.

You don't know much about the old Knicks if you have nothing better than that to say about Phil Jackson, the player. Excellent player off the bench, good defender and rebounder, could score a little bit and every inch a team oriented, winning player. Today's NBA would be a much better place if there were more players like Jackson in it.
