LoVett

If his Instagram is any inclination, it’s tough for him to watch and not be apart of this.

He misses being out there. But if this is the end

Can someone refresh our memory on APR rules re. Dropouts, transfers etc.?

Not an expert, but if player leaves w/o finishing semester it has negative impact. Recently our track record has been fine I believe, so this won’t put us in jeopardy I assume.

You'd think a school would be able to protest an APR hit when a kid has flat-out quit on them.

I suppose if there is a bright side, you can point to LoVett leaving during a potential visit from/with Griffin and definitively show him available PT, instead of Lovett still lingering around and saying things like he may be back.

repeating myself I know
but fwiw
Spoke w ML at Marquette game, took his pix, IMO it is clear he won’t be on the hardwood in a red men jersey ever again
For whatever reason he’s moving on
There seems to be uncertainty and confusion on the players part but, hey, at that age many of us were likely equally unsettled.
All the best Marcus as you proceed with the next chapter of your life!
It was so fine watching you play ;)

Marcus Lovett is leaving St. John's to pursue a professional career, per release. #SJUBB

Good per ZB
Was told Marcus LoVett didn't enroll for the spring semester, so he won't negatively impact the APR. #sjubb

Strange situation. Didn't even stay to finish off the season with his teammates. Oh well. Good luck.

Trying not to get upset about a kid who effectively abandoned us mid season to selfishly do what's best for him, but he's gotta do what he's gotta do for his family.

I guess the revenge is that had he come back to the team, being a part of this great run would have certainly helped his status finding a better job overseas.
finally we have closure.

Now we can fully recruit guards again.
We had closure when his dad tweeted his departure from the team. Technically the kid was crashing on St. John's dime until the staff realized they were being played and he was not enrolled which led to a meeting with Mullin over a week ago where he was told to pack up and leave. Nice PR statement but it was not as amicable as it appears. Good luck to him but we keep getting played by non-NBA talented guards who think they are the next "bright light" on Broadway.

Btw, Marcus had to leave the program after not enrolling because he could not receive any benefits or services by the training staff without the university being in a non compliance situation.

How did they not know he was enrolled on classes last month?

If they knew, why did they allow him to have housing, food, training, and sit on bench at Duke game during last month?
