LoVett Done For Season

Two other articles and most recent. Familiar name as well in Jamari Traylor. Both he and McLemore were ineligible, went to KU took classes and practiced and played the next season.

If I was worried about tornadoes and chanted Rock chalk Jayhawk at games that would make me feel a lot better.
Again maybe my skepticism way off base, but so to is blind optimism.

Have a great day.

You do realize people on these boards were doing a countdown for when the first semester was over so he could play. Was even an argument about if it ended on a Friday or Saturday. He was going to play against Incarnate Word remember. Then it was NJIT. Surely by BE season. Generally when a bunch of people on here tell me something is a done deal I start to get nervous.

I do realize that. People at SJU were telling everyone and anyone that they felt he would get cleared. That spirals out to more and more people.

I remember you saying January 23rd too ;)

That was tongue in cheek and was still closer than everyon telling me he was playing 4 games ago.
Look based off the little know I think he should have been eligible right away.
Based off my mistrust of NCAA and ST John's misdirection policy when it comes to releasing news I am still skeptical.
I get it you and Paultz are not. Hope you guys are right.

Honestly no one outside of the posters on these boards care, but would be appreciated if a reporter asked Mullin point blank what his status is for next year. Would like to see if Mullin answers with "we believe".

Why? You wouldn't believe whatever answer he gave anyway and as Moose has said certainly understandable.

To repeat, a partial qualifier HAS met the requirements for eligibility but in essence the NCAA does not believe the work could have been done as provided but has no tangible proof to discount any classes, as with Sampson, etc. in Lavin's first year when they went to the bogus summer/prep school or whatever it was and the NCAA had some type of concrete evidence to NOT accept credits therefore rendering them ineligible, not declare them a PQ. At this point, SJU has to be satisfied that LoVett's first year work in college renders him eligible as with any player and should the NCAA suspect otherwise they would launch an investigation a la what North Carolina has been going through for the last 17 years. Lovett's decisions aside, if he does the work he plays, barring an NCAA investigation.

As to the lying aspect, I look on this much differently than you guys and maybe because negotiating is a significant part of what I do for a living. In my mind, and this is all pure opinion, SJU believed Lovett did the work and was getting screwed. They then devised a strategy that threatened litigation, which again I am pretty sure but not positive can only come from Lovett, not the school. They then went to the NCAA and inquired if the NCAA may reconsider after the 1st semester grades came out. To further attempt to put pressure on the NCAA they leaked that info to the media. To me it was all a bluff and the NCAA called it; no result, but worth the try; nothing was lost, Lovett wasn't playing anyway. As for really suing, the NCAA could tie the case up easily until the season was over so realistically we only had the bluff to play. I may be way off, way off but that is what I believe happened. They took a shot, threatening litigation and using the media to their advantage - didn't work.

If Chris Mullin came out and said barring an academic issue the rest of the way he is good to go for next season, then I would have zero doubt.

There is no hope needed. He is cleared for play next season. He's as clear as any other player on any team in D1 basketball to play next season. He isn't up for any more NCAA review, and it isn't debatable. The partial qualifier status means he's not eligible this year but providing he does what all other players are doing in the classroom, he's cleared to play.

I don't think any coach would make that kind of announcement but for what it's worth, if LoVett stays, which all indications are that he is, and he does the work, which means, as someone else posted, getting the minimum GPA required, he is eligible.

But I'm a superstitious man, and if some unlucky accident should befall him... if he should be shot in the head by a police officer, or if he should hang himself in his jail cell, or if he's struck by a bolt of lightning, TRANSFER TO IONA, DECLARES FOR THE NBA DRAFT OR IS DECLARED INELIGIBLE AGAIN then I'm going to blame some of the people in this forum, and that I do not forgive.

I know it's been confirmed by a few people but LoVett just put up a picture on Instagram saying he isn't playing this year
