Louisville

Steve Lavin's status for Thursday's game against Louisville is TBA, per a release. #stjbb

We have our hands more than full tomorrow. Siva, Benahan, and Deng will be tough to defend. The fact they shoot very well from the outside and we defend the perimeter poorly will be tough. We need to have a strong start, take their crowd out. Defend out high. Maybe the quickness of balamou could help on Smith. They like to press, wish we had JB for this one. We need to be hitting on every cylinder to keep this close.

No Lavin tomorrow, per St. John's twitter page:

Lavin will not coach in the Louisville game as he attends to family matters surrounding the Sun AM passing of his father, Cap Lavin.

Hope to see him back on the sidelines against USF.

Our zone got picked apart by Gtown and Cuse- we need to mix in some man D.

Could not agree more.

How many times was Sutherland going to have to be left wide open before Rico switched up the D.
The zone not intended to give up open 3s. Not against the Cuse or Fordham 2 years ago. Nothing wrong with playing some Man, but I believe the staff is dedicated to our guys learning how to play zone. What bothers me is we not playing the lanes well enough to get some flicks that would get us off to the races. I have in spots thought this team was playing some really good D, but 4 bad minutes can cost ya the game.

I thought we would upset Gtown, had a bad feeling about Cuse, and have an awful feeling about tomorrow. I don't think STJ can keep it close, will be shocked if we are within 17.

Hines said it will be tough for the team to break L’Ville’s press especially with J. Branch out. #STJbb

looks like branch is out as well, not a good sign.

Hate to say it, this game has blow out written all over it.

not necessarily, everyone needs to pick it up, step up the rotations and for god's sake don't let green run the point.

I guess we gonna have to hit Dom and JaKarr down field. Option 2. Makem miss, get the rebound, and run like hell. Another option is turn the Ville over. Maybe we can press and turn them over all game. Surprised Rico so negative. Maybe this is Felix's break out game.

If Branch doesn't play, Greene will be at PG-- there is nobody else

Amir takes the inbounds and we run picksfor guys coming back to the ball. Then the pick rolls. Is that what's called the high pick and roll? Sorry, I'm getting dumber trying to figure a way. Didn't we beat the Ville a few years back in mty MSG except for Mullen on what was supposed to be a special night?

Ball Boy in for Greene at PG? Might be a upgrade.

Lawman fans report on BE stats are not surprising. We are a seriously flawed team that doesn't do any of the basic principles of BB well. Without Sampson playing at a level that has him in the NBA first round, we are competing with the bottom tier of the conference

Winning against L'ville at home is likely impossible and they will be a hungry/angry team after losing to ND IN A HISTORIC GAME.

No Lavin, No Branch= No way...ON second thought, No way even with both of them.L'ville is a team capable of regrouping in the late season under Pitino and still be in NCAA Title contention.

The staff has to take the cuffs off and let Obekpa start.

Too many games the opposing team shoots lights out to start the game and we are in catch up mode.

Don't play scared and worry about fouls. Just play him.

We blew them out at a game where the 1984/85 Final Four Team was honored marking the 25th anniversary. Mullin was there for the reception/dinner prior to the game but had to catch a flight and did not stay for the ceremony at the half.

I don't know where/what all this Greene bashing is about. Las tseason he ahd 1.5 x as many assists as the second best playmaker on the team (Harrison), and turned the ball over only 57 times compared to our stars, Harrison and Harkless turning the ball over 69 and 80 times respectively.

The guy is not a pure point, so expecting him to run a crisp offense is really not in his toolbox. He hits big shots, has a decent outside shot, and is a slasher to the hoop who picks his spots well.

I just hate when our fans take a guy apart, when if you've seen when one of our glorious fans are picked for those silly on court competitions, most high school girls have better form and basketball skills. I'm not attacking you, but geez, give the kid a break.
