Re: Craig comment-this is nuts even for you. Were you just hit in the head with a blunt object? Can't believe I'm saying this but can we just see how things play out before condemning the man with a death sentence?#outyourevalovingmind
I’m seriously starting to believe that at least half the Redmen.com members need to seek mental health counseling ASAP.
And the other half are already in counseling.
at this point I'm all in on any coach that can retain both LJ & Heron....
That could be St. Jean, and I sure as hell don't want him back.

Holy moly, RSR2. Stop, wuld-ja? Cluess wins and coaches a fast offense, LJ will return if it's Hurley or Cluess, but gotta be quick or else. Kids are getting antsy--which was/is my fear.
Thanks Chicago
What did those posters who wanted CM out think?
It will take time to hire a new improved head coach
its a major transition

If my kid were in this situation I would encourage him to get on the transfer wagon - which does not mean he would transfer
When we hire a decent coach - by definition - he will re-recruit those players we have (LJ et.) and those we thought we had (Mack etc.) and other to date unknown possibilities

How about we give Mke Cragg an opportunity
to show his stuff and let this play out
how about we give it a little time - it's been less than a week
before we go nuts

Panic? Jump off the roof? stop following the Red Storm?
Sounds like some saying they'd move to Canada after the Presidential election - I don't recall too many actually moving, talk is cheap, overreactions are just that

I don't believe too many here will stop following the Red Storm

All the best to all of us - Mike Cragg, our current kids, we posters AND our new coach

so can we "chill" and let it play out befoae we

Hey, Mike, just rant at the open window like Peter Finch in Network...lol.
Like everything else, we'll get through this...!
Somehow.
LJ is my favorite Johnny.
Thinking we have to act fast, Hurley yea/nay today, or Cluess or Scheyer. Gotta be quick, or it'll be a total re-start like in 2014-15. A nightmare none of us want to relive.

He's doing the right thing by weighing options, but I think he'll be back. My reason for saying that is I've felt he has real pro potential based off what we saw last year. This was going to be a big year for him to put himself on the map now with Ponds gone. Sitting out won't help accomplish that.

very short sighted

Ahhh PharmD, just what the pharmacist ordered!
My heart rate slowed 75 bips.
Lol.
Just got to move quick here.
I've said all through this saga that we do not have the luxury of a national search.
The roster she be emptying, plus the window to repair it with Grad Transfers and/or recruits will close fast.

Great points 112.

Guys...what did we think was gonna happen when Mullin stepped down / let go....?

These guys signed up to play for Mullin...he’s not here anymore.

Expect a complete rebuild no matter who’s hired... let’s be realistic.

I don’t see SJU being a hot destination and getting anyone here is going to take time.

LJ is 21 if he transfers he will be 23 at the end of the next season he plays. He has a great future as an International Player so transferring makes little sense to me but who knows.
put St. Jean on Cluess staff and I wonder if thats enough for Heron and LJ?
Put Cluess on St. Jean’s staff. One of them has head coaching experience in high major basketball.

Thanks General.
Agree panicking is the worst thing we could do or that Cragg could do.
He's got a short list with a favorite on it (Hurley).
My point is he should get an answer from Hurley sooner than later and then move pell mell to his next choice.
At this point, I won't argue for anybody over the other on his list.
Cragg is the man.
Let him make the call.
I just urge him to not delay his final decision.
at this point I'm all in on any coach that can retain both LJ & Heron....
Mullin would have kept LJ & Heron and most did not want to see that experiment continue, so unfortunately we are going to have to tear it down and build it back up. That is why we need a strong long term plan and stick with it rather than keep trying experiments. We have not been able to sustain any success so each year stands in its own. We need to slowly and steadily build up our program with continued pipelines of recruits. Getting rid of coaches every 4 years leads to exactly what we have.

The way our program has been run means one good year of making the tournament could be followed by 4 years of last place then perhaps one more good year following that followed by who know what. We need to build a program that can sustain even if a coach leaves (See Xavier). At this point we made our bed. Now we have to pick up the pieces and start building and perhaps that starts with re-recruiting the players that are said to be leaving. I still have faith in Cragg and think we will get the ship righted but it may mean another few years n the dumpster.

It would be smart of Cragg to frequently update guys like LJ, Heron and Williams. I know he can't share too much detail, but retention management should be a priority. Ultimately, it will impact the length of our rebuild.

Crazy as it sounds, I think you may be right.
