LJ in Transfer Portal?
Dave from Johnny Jungle has posted this on his site.........please don't shoot the messenger:

Starts with M and ends with N.

Didn't get along. A lot of other players aren't exactly fond of him either but they also don't have many options to play on this level and get playing time. I think if they did Roberts and Williams were gone. I also think that's why you saw Williams get a bump in minutes towards end of last year because he was very close to bouncing.
First off, Dave has never been a fan of Anderson's hiring. Second of f, if the kid(s) doesn't want to be here goodbye, time for next man up.

Completely ridiculous. 13 kids on a team all fighting for playing time , of course they are not all going to love one another. LJ is a showboat and Marcellus Also to a lesser extent. Well instead of LJ having an all BE season ME who worked like a Trojan last summer made the most of his minutes and made a huge jump in performance. One player disappointed while another turned heads and made people look twice and at times shake their heads.
Jealousy is a terrible thing and the guy who was supposed to be the team star may have found himself on the outside looking in a bit at a young one who came out of no where. Perhaps, just perhaps, LJ saw his minutes being eroded this season by both Cole and Marcellus ?
Easy to blame CMA but the only thing CMA did was hold everyone accountable both on and off the court for their performance. So the team overachieved on the court and excelled in the classroom. If CMA is to blame for that I can live with that type of coach every day especially after the free for all we had with the last two coaches.
As for Greg he got increased pt at the end of the season for two reasons.
1Herons injury
2 His improved health.
Anything else is just complete bull.

Yea you’re right I was thinking that sophomore year ended one game under but it was one game over .500.

Me too, I was about to respond that the last player to play on teams with winning records 3 years in a row might well have been Lavor Postell when I checked Lavin's record and saw the 17-16 in year 3.
Throughout this discussion of "great" why has no one mentioned D'Angelo Harrison as a comparison to LJ since they played in the same decade. He was vastly superior to LJ. He even had "issues" and corrected them and came back stronger and left as one of our top all time scorers. He never dogged it and was an enthusiastic team leader. LJ was not a team leader which may have been his personality to be reticent. D'Angelo thrived in it and is still a wonderful supporter of SJU.
I love d’Angelo Harrison. But go baxk and read this board at the end of his sophomore year and tell me what the vibe was. That was 2 years into his sju career. Same as LJ

The guys that were on the roster from the Mullin classes weren’t recruited to Cma’s intense style. Not every kid is going to love it and appreciate it the same way and I get that. I don’t think every kid is cut out for it and it makes sense. LJ was one of those. He made the least growth as a player and maybe even took a step back in some ways because I don’t think he totally bought in to cma’s style.

In time those guys will be replaced by ones who know exactly what they’re getting into when they sign on, and we will be a better overall team when that happens.

I did say D'Angelo had issues but what made him special to me is he dealt with them/overcame them. He did not run away from them.

No idea about Roberts but it is hard for me to believe that Greg and his dad aren't very happy at St. Johns and his prospects going forward.

Need to take into account that JJ folks were not fans of Anderson hire.

"Starts with M and ends with N."

I was trying to figure out why anyone would have a problem with Marcus Hatten.

The guy on JJ sees himself as Switzerland but is anything but.

As I believe Moose alluded to, pretty sure the BFF of our former diminutive assistant in Lincoln is referring to those guys (and LJ) not being a fan of CMA, as opposed to the Duke of Earlington.

Got something against Dlo? ;)

Nothing, loved Dlo and Jamal Branch for that matter both of whom were part of those teams. Just a little clumsy shorthand on my part.

I knew that. And to the original point beside the 3 years in a row, STJ had winning records 5 out of 6 year including Norm's last and all of Lavin's. Big whoop, I know, but it shows just how bad Mullin's 3 losing seasons in a row were. Even Norm didn't do that, all by himself at least.

I don't see how ANY of that makes sense. I don't read JJ at all, so have no clue who Dave is but he just sounds like an Anderson hater.

"Williams got a bump in minutes last year because Anderson, an 18 year HC with almost 400 wins, was afraid his Sophomore SG who puts up 6 points per game was threatening to transfer." That really sounds like something Anderson would do. Who comes up with this stuff? Lol.

How bout Williams got a bump in minutes because he was playing really well on both ends of the floor and lit up a top 10 team in the country during that time. On top of that, Heron was injured at the end of the season so we had to rely on Williams more. It's also a contradiction, he is basically saying Williams will be hard pressed to get minutes at this level anywhere else, but at the same time Anderson was afraid to lose him so we gave him more minutes. Is Williams good or not good? I think Williams is a nice 2 way player, and I do see a slight breakout coming in his Junior year (10+ PPG), but there is no way in hell Anderson would bump anyones minutes if they were threatening to transfer. I don't care who it is, I guarantee Anderson shows them the door and says next man up.

Somehow the guy putting Roberts name out their makes even less sense than the Williams name drop. It was the perfect time to leave for Roberts, he's coming off season ending shoulder surgery, which could effect him next season, so it wouldn't hurt to sit a season, he lost his starting spot and his MPG plummeted by the end of the season, and not to mention Roberts could possibly fall behind Moore and Toro next season. So if Roberts disliked Anderson so much, why would he stay? Makes no sense.

Guy is just looking for someone to blame for the Figueroa situation. It sucks, maybe Anderson misread it, maybe Figueroa screwed us. All I know is we overachieved last year and we haven't been able to say that since 2010. We'll bounce back.

It’s well known he is a CMA hater because his boy isn’t here anymore

Dave is full of shit.

As a student, I didn’t know that many of the players, but me and my friends did know Greg. He likes St. John’s a lot. Maybe he was having private conversations about leaving, But I highly doubt it. He knows he’s a big part of the future of the team and will get a lot of minutes next season. His dad has been an outward supporter of the program publicly.

Some of these guys, it’s so obvious that they pick a random player who they thought would get more minutes and just assume he’s unhappy with his role. When Greg was trying to get back into the rotation more after his injury. His minutes weren’t that much at first, and you can tell fake insiders like Dave just ran with it. He’s got no sources. Don’t fall for it

Great post, JO23.
Thanks.
You're right.we will bounce back with CMA and this team.

If Williams was considering leaving, it makes absolutely no sense to do so now. Being a two-year starter is much more tolerable than being a one-year starter, and LJ leaving changed his whole outlook.
The JJ message board is dreadful. Nohing there should ever be brought over to this board or even referenced.
I honestly forgot it still existed.

That Dave guy is completely full of it. I joined that site before I found out about this site, and I caught him up in a few lies on stuff I absolutely knew were not true about CMA. One of the members over there PM'ed me and told me about here and said don't take anything over there seriously, it's basically just Dave and a few of his followers. Glad he did, I'd never go back over there again it's terrible.
