Let's Mend the Wounds

Having a bunch of different people involved with so much authority never works. The AD is the person who needs to make the decision. Business 101.

Anyone who opposed Cragg's choice (Cluess) should be fired immediately.

at a private university like St. Johns how do you get rid of the BOT?
They can fire the AD, the President but how are they replaced?
Repole said they were also the problem here. If they can't be let go or fired what is the solution?

Please educate me to the process here; thanks

The BOT is a mix of donors, educators, and clergy. I believe they are appointed to 12 year terms. Repole took aim at Collins because he is the chairman of the BOT. Since the school is owned by the Vincentian Order, I suppose the order could dissolve the board, or the board likely has by laws by which individual members can be removed.

If this Jones hire goes through, these 2 ass clowns should step down immediately. IMMEDIATELY. Also, I'd call for an audit of Oliva and any expenses he's passed on to the school. NOW.

Yes. He's that type of guy.

If you think this is not being addressed on an ongoing basis I have to strongly disagree. I am sure Cragg and others involved (unfortunately) are having ongoing discussions on many topics; one of which is the employment status of Cragg. I believe he will leave after this if "things" do not change and that will be, in my opinion, a disaster. No time off until this is resolved; well OK they get from 3 - 4 tomorrow and Easter Sunday off being a Catholic University but otherwise it is 24/7. :woohoo:

So basically you can not get rid of the board. They have to come to the conclusion on their own that they are ruining the "front door". The basketball program of this school is how people get to know the University. When it is good enrollment goes up and revenue rises which benefits all at the school. So why can't they get on the same page? Why can't they let the man they hired do his job? Will they look in the mirror after what happened yesterday and enact real change in the way they do business? I doubt it.

Power of purse. If enough people stop feeding the beast and stop all donations and season tickets purchases things will change.

yea, right, except a single million dollar donor is equal to 1000 donors giving $1,000 each, and we don't have many of those.

It is a waste of time contacting either one. The BoT has maintained a small provincial image for a university that is global. DePaul is much better run. The fish stinks from the head. I've written them all off. I was serious when I said while back that they should fire the President before firing Mullin.

After an embarrassing and surreal couple of weeks that saw: Mullin fired, a myriad of coaching candidates come and go (due to a number of reasons we do not need to rehash), which caused one of their most wealthiest donors to go scorched earth in a radio interview, it is long past the time everyone hits the pause button on killing one another.

Cragg managed to make a very solid hire -- one that we could not have imagined was possible.

But maybe, just maybe a sliver of light is trying to shine through the circus tent sized dark cloud hovering over this program.

And yes, we have been falsely led down this path before, only to get a hit with sledge hammer in the knee. But maybe it is real this time.

The quicker we move on from what happened, the better. We all love this program. Let us put our collective energy into welcoming the new coach and his family into ours, and helping him succeed (which will certainly take a bit of time and effort).

Mike Anderson will quickly know why this is a special place. And despite the madness, it is our madness. He is one of us now, and forever will be.

I can go deeper but...

Maybe you can arrange a meet-up in Central Park and everyone can sit around holding hands as sing kumbaya

:p

Hopefully a civil tone on the board for a while

Are you kidding? You know by May 1 at the latest, something will happen and hell will break out.

This was a good hire and people are off the ledge. I 100% believe though, that if Cragg wasn’t here, and Repole wasn’t pressuring, we would have gone with a cheaper pick that Bobby G and Oliva turned up. Agree, let’s let the healing begin...

I'm 700 miles away but if I were there it's hard to hold hands and drink beer. A good bar would be better. Besides that if I sing publicly I'll probably get fined for disturbing the peace. My singing voice should be on the FBIs top 10 list.

I am not sure how this is to be done but I believe the pressure needs to be put on Bobby and Oliva to resign. I think enough has come out recently where they are a detriment to the basketball program and also outside the basketball program. But from hearing lack of support of Mullin, Making Lavin's last two years hell here, and now making Cragg's life hell here I think they both need to go.
I just have no idea on how to go about that.
