Lavin's Future in Doubt at SJU

if he was going to get extended why would the administration leave any doubt and allow a week's worth of speculation to surface around the media? are they trying to make his new contract more affordable? whatever it is these people value, it sure doesn't help our perception and prospects moving forward

I'll take a wild stab. The season ended Friday. Some committee members may have been in Charlotte, and their first post season meeting was in the early part of the week after the season ended. They mostly all have high level careers, and can't sit in a room for a week deciding on LAvin's future.
 
Am I the only person on this board considering the possibility that people known to us and claiming to be insiders are feeding info to Zach that is posed to make Lavin look at risk, trying to make the rumors parents to the facts?

Not the case. He may not like SL, but he has independent sources other than this "nut house", me included in that abode. :)

The school could have met with SL and asked him to lay out his 3-5 year vision including what many think is a lost next year. Maybe they liked what they heard and offer a short term contract that will automatically extend if certain goals and/or negatives do or don't take place. I would be in favor of replacing SL but this option is not terrible.

We don't live in the 1920's where the "committee members" have to ride their horse and buggy back to Queens from charlotte. And since when do administrators and athletic directors not plan for every scenario? They should have had an idea of what direction they wanted to go in based on how we performed in the tournament.

But he didn't say anything very concrete. He said possible.

Hoops Weiss has also been around forever, and I am not sure I would always take his word. I mean he has very shaky sources (cough, lawmanfan, cough).

I knew there was a committee, and I didn't report on them meeting. I'm not offering what they could have done, but given that they are meeting this week, they likely decided to wait to see how it all ends, rather speculating on what might happen. I do not think they've lost one bit of inertia if they act decisively. CM must have been preparing a list in anticipating, and should they decide not to bring him back will immediately move to phase 2.
 
the conflicting reports and semi-cryptic messages but not really from Paultz aka the thinker on the shitter are very entertaining atleast. I hope we make a decision one way or another soon

That article is about as vague as it gets. If they were going to give him an extension, it would have happened by now. I'm guessing they're reaching out to people to gauge their interest. Bringing Lavin back is a fallback at this point.
 
The announcement my Katz this morning didn't sound vague at all. After just speaking to SL there was little doubt by SL about him getting an extension.

I didn't get from the Katz piece that he spoke to Lavin all that recently. Unless I missed something, it sounds like it was shortly after the tournament loss. Nothing after all the rumors started.
