Lavin's Future in Doubt at SJU

I don't believe it, he'll be back .If they know anything about basketball they know we are in the midst of recruiting. Just give him a one year extension after next year and see how he fares.
 
but i read somewhere there was a five-year extension coming in April.

Ha. I get it. That's funny bcs someone else predicted an extension which may turn out to be false. First time that's ever happened on the internet!

I think a young and hungry coach is probably the way to go, particularly if they could attract any one of the names that's been discussed...

Should be interesting. Means nothing till it happens (or doesn't).

I wonder what St. John's legend (or legends) are they referring to and are they sure they would take the job.

I also wonder what young coach the financial backer is looking for and are they sure he would accept.

What ever happens, I hope it does not turn into a circus. Know or have a reasonable expectation that the person or people you want will accept. If you stay the course or not, whomever the coach is, lay down the ground rules and progress you expect.

Finally, meetings should be happening sooner than later. Discussions one way or the other should have begun already this week.

Agree - we need to be going after the Hurleys or Archie or even Richard Pitino...forget Mark and Repole.
 
It seems like the financial backers want an Archie Miller type coach while the school wants a guy with more experience.
 
you cant do that. Minimum extension is 3 years, or you decide to part ways now. he cant recruit if kids, their families and handlers don't know he will be there.

Barring some kind of miracle (and I would put landing Diallo in that category) the cupboard is practically bare for 2015. Sampson is a nice addition, but hardly enough to make the team competitive.

If Lavin is to go, now is the time. Write off next year, and get things going for 2016.
 
Paultzman, any specific names? I've been mentioning SJU legend like Mullin for a while.

Mas and the Hurleys are great choices I think.
Mark? Not so much
 
Id rather have Lavin than Masiello to be honest. Fingers crossed we get Archie or Bobby.
