Lapchick statue initiative

I am delighted to share that the statue is expected to be unveiled on campus this coming Spring.

Appreciate all who have made this possible.

Details will follow.

Well done JSJ! Without you this project wouldn't have gotten off the ground. You deserve the largest thank you. As some have said, this project was initiated 10 years too late, when more potential donors form the Lapchick era would have gotten behind this. However, you saw this through to completion, in impressive fashion. On behalf of all Redmen.com'ers, thank you and congratulations on a job well done

Was told by someone very close to the athletic Dept that the statue is amazing . I guess there is an artist's version of the statue in existence .

Great, great news!

JSJ, I can't thank you enough for all your efforts, and I hope -- and I hope this doesn't sound creepy! -- to meet you one day (ideally at the unveiling) and give you a manly Redmen hug for all you've done to bring this dream to reality. Can't thank you -- and all the contributors -- enough.

Greatly appreciate all the kind words but this would not have happened without the support of this board.

A standing ovation is also richly deserved for Kevin B., Ed K., Rino G., Billy and Mel.

These guys have been great to work with and without their time, energy and effort none of this would have been accomplished.

The St. John's family came through in the clutch and deserve to be recognized and applauded.

I said it before and I'll say it again. JSJ is the best.

JSJ does more for our school than the rest of us combined.

You're right he really is the best and a great guy aside from that

Kevin,
You are far too humble. For the record, I came to the fundraising event as much to support you as the initiative itself. You are generous in all ways to the university, and bring a spirit to this website that elevates it. Thank you

My former teammate at Manhattan Prep a thousand years ago;

“@richardlapchick: It is a great week in NYC with the @UCFDeVos students; visited @StJohnsRedStorm @NyMets @NBA @nfl @MLS @espn. @UCFBusiness @ncasports”

Documentary on Lapchick & Nat Clifton airing now on MSG

Only confirms that the very least we can do to honor this great man is a statue. Hell, the whole campus should be named after him.
