Lapchick statue initiative

Great news indeed. Words can't express the tremendous job JSJ has done to make this happen. Lets hope the University does not stop here. Maybe one day there will be a plaque or ceremony honoring Buck Freeman or the Helms National Champion team, somewhere in Carnesecca Arena or in the "Legends Plaza" where the statute will be going.

Couldn't agree more. We have a rich history and it needs to be recognized and appreciated.

Kudos Kevin!

Including hanging the jerseys of Leroy Ellis, George Johnson, John Warren, and other well-deserved honorees alongside the jerseys of the original "legacy" class. That initial class was inducted eight -- eight! -- years ago without any new inductions since. It's time -- and then some! -- to recognize and celebrate the contributions of these great Redmen ... especially while they are still with us.

Where is the school at with the Carnesseca statue? I know its sitting in warehouse somewhere in MASS I believe. Is the school planning to put it out ever?

Lol! No, I'm speaking of the Lou Carnesseca statue. I couldn't find a thread for it so I asked on this one.

Oops

This post and this topic is ALL GOOD! Refreshing to read.
AND let me add - consistent with statues and jerseys being displayed - :
How about we announce a former player any time such player appears at a home game whether Alumni Hall or MSG?
I have posted this story before - a few years back I ran into Jeff Allen (of the early 1980s twin tower-Bill Wennington fame) - he was at a game and we chatted on the first level over one of the basket - no one seemed to know he was present. How nice it would have been for the announcer to give a little recognition to his presence - even have a mini-video of his play!
Now this would further move us toward appreciating the broad St. John's family concept - past and current players.
:)

I believe the Carnesecca statue will cost $150,000. The school does not want to go ahead with a Carnesecca statue without a statue for Jack Kaiser. $300K is a pretty pricey endeavor, and while many would step up for a Carnesecca statue, I think Kaiser is a tougher lift. I've been told otherwise by the AD though.

Kind of crazy with the statue already made and all.
